Bummer...cause Reeves said specifically that you get to see the monster do his stuff for a short while...guess he was lying

I just re-read the production notes, and what these reviews sound exactly like what he described:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"There's something very scary about what you can't see," adds Reeves. "You're in there with Hud, and there's no reverse angle showing you what he's not seeing. They don't have any more information than you do. Every moment becomes charged, because you know that, just off-frame, there might be something horrible happening. But you don't know what it is, because he hasn't turned the camera there yet. It becomes all about what your mind fills in."

I've followed this for months, but figured it was just another monster film; it wasn't until after I read Reeves's description that I actually got interested in seeing it. To each their own, I guess.

THIS THING told me more of what I was wanting to know about the movie than anything else has! Thanks a million for the link. It's like reading the book before seeing the movie. Awesome! Very Happy

I have a couple questions for you "Partner" (your term...not mine).

1) What were you expecting? Citizen Kane?

2) Why do you insist on using expletives (that means bad words Wink ) Didn't your parents ever tell you that people who curse do so because they lack an extended vocabulary?

3) Are you in the habit of calling people "Partner?" Normally the only people who call others "partner" are either cops, hillbillies and/or homosexuals. And you don't seem the cop type to me. Very Happy

4) Now this is not a question, it is a promise. If you were in the theater with me and you started booing...or making any such noises...I would have personally removed you! Who do you think you are that you think it's ok to ruin the movie experience for others in a theater because you wanted to see the big, creepy monster on screen more? I have personally kicked people out of a movie on several occasions for making too much noise, talking on their phone, etc. And here is a little secret for you. Those people on the screen...they can't hear. Did you know that? That's true. They aren't really in the theater and can't hear you because...IT IS A MOVIE! IT'S A ONE WAY MEDIUM! YOU SIT STILL, SHUT UP AND WATCH...JUST WATCH...GET IT! Boy oh boy I wish I was there when you were making a fool of yourself. It has been a while since I beat the snot out of a dim witted jerk like you!

Ok...I feel better now. Guess I just had to vent a little.

First of all I am in Nuclear Medicine. Second, I promise you would never touch me. Third, I forgot more about suspenful movies than you will ever know. "Partner"! Quit trying to sound smart, it dumbs you down.

You're in Nuclear Medicine? Jesus Christ, no wonder our Nuclear research sucks.

Wow, it's the grammar police. Thanks. Last resort. Tell us how many times you saw the monster again?

Summary:
Go into the movie knowing basically nothing.
Watch film.
Leave movie with more questions than you originally had, and ask yourself,
"Did they plan it this way, seriously?"
Continue the incomplete ARE/G.
That's how it goes.

You made of point of putting "You're" I thought perhaps I made a common grammtical error in a previous post. I mean, I could never be in Nuc. Med because, I thought this movie sucked. That would make me dumb. Have you even seen the movie? Honestly, have you? You haven't have you? You little stinker you. Nice play though.

Just got home myself from the Grand Rapids premier (that's in Michigan by the way). I thought it was great. It was gripping. The format sucked you right into the story like you were living it. While it's true that there aren't a lot of monster shots, you see it a lot but not always in full form. It's usually bits and pieces here and there and when you do see it full body the one or two times, it's at an odd angle or perspective. My only beef is in the length. We were told just under 90 minutes I believe, but by my watch it was barely 75 - with a mile of credits after it. I would've loved to watch 3 hours of this movie. While my stomach was churning from the camera work (don't let that be a turn-off, I get motion sickness stupid easy and I skipped dinner to get in line early at the theater), it would've been worth it to get more out of the movie. I'm really hoping that the ARE continues and that the DVD is full of extra stuff.

Oh, and a note on the various monster descriptions floating around. There's a really good reason why everyone describes it as something different.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It doesn't really look like anything identifiable. It's just a big weird looking thing. Sometimes it flops about & crawls, sometimes it walks on feet. Sometimes it seems to have hands, other times tentacles. IT'S A FREAKING WEIRD MONSTER THING. Best I can do.

In short, I am pleased with the product. But I have to say that I'm hungry for more. Three sequels by Christmas please, JJ!

Hey nofx1978,

Thanks for the quick reply. Couple things here...

First, I am happy to hear that your working. It always does my heart good to know that retards have jobs too.

Second, you may or may not know more about suspense movies than me. I would have no way of knowing whether you do or do not. I do know this...I am a teacher. The subject I teach is filmmaking. I do a good deal of research and survey a great many movies. That does not make me an expert. But I do enjoy movies and would never...NEVER...disturb others in a movie theater because I was unhappy. I will leave that to the mewling infants...and to you, of course.

Lastly, you might very well be able to prevent me from ejecting you from a theater by force. I'll give you that. You may very well be bigger than me. You may be a better fighter than me. I don't know. But you would be exited from the theater and if you assaulted me then I guess I would have a lovely law suit to go along with my popcorn. Wink

I put emphasis on the you part of it, not the grammar part of it. And the reason I couldn't see you in Nuclear Medicine is because of the immaturity in your posts. I mean, a lot of my posts are immature, but hell, I'm 15.

The movie was over, and most there cheered when I booed. I did not disrupt anyone. And nice job with the lawsuit. The judge would love that. Oh, and remember, those who can't do, teach. Tada.

LOL. No, just venting. These all good people. I am just upset with the outcome. I am movie buff, and it just let me down. I need to see it again, and again. and again. I may learn to love the clover.
