New posts markers (cookie issue?)

I just arrived at the board, clicked on a topic that had new posts, and when that page loaded, it looked as though all posts had been read. I clicked back to the index, and suddenly all the new posts markers were cleared, so now I have absolutely no clue what posts I have not read.

I was auto-logged in, and I just have no clue now how to catch up, since I have no markers. (I am currently at work, too, and I haven't been to the board from this machine since moving to the new server.)

Is there any way to modify a cookie to re-set those new post markers, or am I SOL?

Am I being clear?

I mean, honestly, it's not like 80% of the posts I haven't read won't be missed (halo halo cortana 343 omg 7 7 7 7 7), but since I'm modding, I'd like to try and catch up. Smile

Thanks!

marking posts since last visit uses cookies

This explanation was hidden under the Apiary category, but it applies to all Unforums users. With the migration of the server, your cookies are going to be in transition for awhile, at least until DNS entries are updated and propagated and all that technogeekjargonspeak stuff.

As Imbri posted elsewhere:

Yes, others are having a problem with posts being marked read/unread. This problem will resolve itself shortly. It has to do with the server upgrade and it takes a bit for internet to catch up with it all. You are not crazy and you are not alone.

Thanks, catherwood!

I finally did see that in the Apiary section, but forgot to come back here and mention it.

A couple tricks if people are still having problems with this:

Try clearing your forum.unfiction.com cookie. That brought things back to normal for me at least.

You can also use the super handy dandy "view posts in last 15 min" (or 2 hours or whatever).

And sorry I hid my post in the bees stuff. I sometimes forget to scroll all the way down here... bad me!

I'm having a problem with getting logged out when navigating around the forums. So I'll come back and it looks like the "new posts" are read, but in reality I've gotten logged out.

Is this just a result of the upgrades/move as well? Cuz I can hack it if it is......well not literally.... Wink
