Why does the creature pursue Rob, Lily and Hud?
Some sort of yuppie fetish perhaps?

For those who have seen the film, please answer this question for me...why does the creature fixate on Rob, Lily and Hud?

From what I've read, it appears that the creature seems to pursue these three characters throughout the film. Why would "it" pick these three particular humans while trampling a city populated by millions of other human residents?

Is the reason for this behavior ever explained in the film?

No, they just have really bad luck. Wherever they go, it just happens to be.

My guess is because its a movie, the Main characters have to have some connection with the monster

the reason the monster is always in their way is because they went TOWARDS the monster, not away from it. They were told that the way they were going was exactly where the monster was chillin out and they almost got eaten a whole bunch of times cuz they didnt listen.

Pursuit?
I dont think so.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I dont believe it pursuits them at all. Manhattan is not that large and the monster is. Its easy for this thing to be where they are if its confused and just exploring this new area (all the while being shot at), especially when they try to go through town to get from one place to another.

Indeed, it wouldn't make for a very nuanced justification on the part of the filmmakers, but that's certainly true.
