Computer Code

Let´s just organized the information. Maybe, this way we can see something that it is not clear.

Hahaha. I e-mailed him again and I have a feeling I might've gotten a little snarky. Whoops!

Anyway, he likes to tell us about 'the golden ratio', but I haven't been able to apply it to that jumble on his 'error' page. I hope someone else is seeing something I'm not.

I have realized. The nautilus. How could we have been so stupid for so long? I am, once again, among you. Spirals, spirlas; they are the key. Out and out again in a most inefficient way. Take out all the symbols and condense next to a single entry. Then unwind and transcribe.

Throwing this out there...
I've been playing around with the code... procrastinating on a project for work. I noticed a pattern all-right. Someone already mentioned Fibonacci and there is definitely a sequence present when you count the number of special characters inserted in the "NEXT" text.

text>>>>>>>Special character count in "NEXT"

1039NEX&T>>>>>>>1
468251945)983541687@35374!54365165453537400406847984N@E&X*T>>>>>>>3
:05764104!5084615920475?974240193468NE%XT>>>>>>>1
31320595(310)51731[2674097464710694578801205{4663N[EX]T>>>>>>>2
26876213695>>>>>>>0

Stripping the special characters and reverse ordering the Fibonacci sequence yields:

4682519459835416873537454365165453537400406847984NEXT
313205953105173126740974647106945788012054663NEXT
057641045084615920475974240193468NEXT
1039NEXT
26876213695

perhaps 1039=LOVE

like a sign off

alright. back to my hidey-hole

which basically highlights the instances of symmetry in the numbers whether relflected, a sequence or palindromic. I'm not sure if this helps at all, I figured it would eliminate them...

The other option that came to mind was the possibility that the order we find the code in initially is correct, and that "1039" represents "HELP".

He seems mildly surprised at the patterns in the code. Perhaps someone is reaching out to us. Morcar?

I do hope you find your brother and that you can avoid the suits. I am still working out the system error, but have figured out the rest. I find this week quite the pleasant challenge. I admire Da Vinci a great deal and am happy to see you draw upon him and his influences for influence.
Thank you.

Edwin conversation

Dear Edwyn,

Your page made me to remind a friend of mine. He studied math all his life, since 5 years old I believe. He is extremally smart and clever, but he gets really confused when he does simply calculations (32:5, for exemplo). Nowadays he works at NASA, in Praga. Really sucessful guy. The interesting about him is that he is a extremaly good drummer, one of the best I know. And he always tells me: "Music is math, it is all about math."

Interesting point of view. I think all art had to do with Math, even abstract art. I am photographer and my art is directelly close to math, I have to do some calculations, as time, distance, etc, to do a photo the way I want. And I think this is what your pages mean. I never was a cientist, always love humanity studies. Nowadays I study and work with journalism. But I have conciensce that math is part of my life.

Thanks for made me realized that. And sorry about my english, I´m brazilian and I´m not used to write in english.
Regards, Flavia

I agree completely that art and math are intertwined. The Golden Ratio is a phenomenon found time and time again hidden within nearly all masterpieces. This may be coincidence, but more likely, there is a higher order guiding the hands of the masters. And, you write beautifully for a non-native speaker. I would be frozen if I were to attempt another language.

Thank you for sharing your insights.

Yes, I studied this in my last college class, the golden ratio (here we call it as Número Aureo). Is was discovered by Plato or Aristoteles, isn´t it?
If I´m right (and I remembered my classes), the golden ratio is the number of balance and beauty. If you want to do something balanced (could be a paint, ou a door), you should follow this rule. When you see something unbalanced it is because you did not follow the rule, right?

This proporcion lays in all nature thing, such as a natrivius (the shell) or the human arm.

Is this have something to do with the computer error code? I´m not able to apply this rule in this puzzle... LOL...

You´re a really smart guy and I do like smart people. Have one question, after this week end, are you going to be folded as Amanda did?
Regards,
Flavia

The computer error offers a simple clue, though some may have discovered the ghosts to which I refer. Have you and the others found anything within that may be of use? I am aware of the simple information disguised within but have recently been made aware there may be more to this.

It is my sincere hope I may be kept around and merely silenced. A folding might keep me from success in my duties to the Queen. I believe that my fate will lie in silencing, a more suitable alternative.

I would stay with the passengers if allowed. Something I never thought I would say...I will miss those I've grown fond of...

Awww, fla. I wrote him back saying we all hoped he was merely silenced too.

And grr! I want to solve that system error already! LOL.

Sorry if this has been looked at before, but a quick search didn't show anything here or on the wiki...

Could the Aquarium clue be relevant to this? The Fibonacci sequence relates to the spiral shell of the fossil, and the fossil could be thought of as a "ghost" (clues to be found where others claim there are only ghosts).

If that's the case, how does "Try 3 after 1, try 14 after 3" apply to the error code?

This number no aplly in the code error. They were used to discovered the password.

I send a diagram yesterday to edwin, it is too long to post here. But I received a e-mail from him as the aswer:

Quote:
That diagram was quite interesting. You are seeing the ghosts in the
machine I speak of. This makes for an interesting mental exercise, but
misses the clue of the system error. Despite the challenge, the clue is
readily apparent once understood. Apply Ockham's Razor.

I was going to a interesting, but worng way... lol...
