I have to say I was very satisfied, but I wanted to like it a lot more. I really had issues with Hud's camera work. Mainly being the choices he made between taking shots of his friends when there is a 40 story monster looming down the street.

Cause you would be worrying about that monster huh?
and die while you were trying tp capture it, 40 storys eh?
As you say, meaning it's steps are BOUNDS.

meaning you need to be running during every second in order to even make a stand, depending on how fast you are.

Dude, seriosuly i would have dropped that bitch ALONG time ago before I wasted time trying to film it.

Fuck that, all the world is probably already aware anyway, you just dont cover up a Gigantic monster destroying a town.

SO, people probably have seen it.
In the movie anyway.

I think from an artistic stand point the camera work was very realistic. of course I would love multiple shots of the monster from multiple angles, but that is just not feasible. for example:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
When Hud is accross the street from everyone else, while the soldiers and tanks are firing over his head he basically has a steady shot of his friends hiding under the eve of the entrance to that building. I think in this case with everything going on around him he has forgotten about the camera and is just laying there with his eyes closed screaming for Rob. that's why it is more of a steady shot with the only movement in the screen being caused by the concussive blasts of the nearby tanks and rocket launchers and also the foot steps of MGP

Yeah I considered that heavily, and I definitely know that to make the film work the way it does, they couldn't have revealed the beast rightr away. It's just very frustrating...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
When they were husteling to get across the fallen building's roof, I get it... he's trying to catch his footing and get across and not sit there to be reduced to rubble... but I guess if I'm going to keep talking about how I'm documenting this event so people can see it... well, I might take cover and start trying to get a good shot. Esp when we already have to suspend belief that there is a huge monster stomping around and that everywhere these guys go in this large city, it's right behind them... don't get me started about the stealth monster in Central Park. Smile

But yeah, I still enjoyed it. I just wanted to see the monster a lot more, like everyone will/does.

I see your point especially about Central Park. I did a double take combo into a WTF when that happened lol

to the OP: what would you give the movie out of 10 and why?
also, did you think the monster looked cool or stupid?

I'd give it a 9/10 only because I did want to see the monster more and I wish it was longer. But other than that, with how it is now, its a really badass movie.

I give it a B out of 10. Smile

yeah it's a good 8 IMO, just based on my complaints with not seeing the monster more and the last 5 mins or so bugged me plot-wise. I'd see it again in a heartbeat though.

With all of this read, it seems that this WHOLE movie is just another piece of the puzzle! GRRR! I thought it was over!

I would give it a 9.5! I felt it was exactly what the hype and ARE had me expecting it to be. The -.5 is because I felt the monster should have fit more into the "from the ocean" thing. Although I was miffed it didn't look to be from the ocean I feel that the monster overall was very believable and very cool! Some of the longer scenes showing MGP really are epic in their magnitude and ...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The little monsters are Horribly grotesque and scarier than I had thought they would be going into this, but I thought they were really awesome. There is no accurate picture of them up to date, so I think you guys will be surprised with what they look like

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Although I think one of the others who have seen this already answered this question I will tell you what I think. The only similarities I see if the Arm structure and the fact it is elongated and a Quadraped. I think that this drawing is a little too cartoony looking. the head is too round and the body not long enough. The face is TOO human and the tail too short. Its torso is too thick and its hind legs are not set forward like that, but more like a monitor lizard off to the side (not quite all the way though).
