Hmm...seems like they like to half-ass this whole viral thing....could jus be the translation though...like subtitled movies vs. dubbed movies u know? you always get a better story with subtitles than dubbed

That's a very good point, guerra001. I think if we understood all the Japanese stylistic things going on, and possible Japanese slang, it would work out better for us. It would need to be translated by someone who is fluent in both English and Japanese, and understands the cultural differences that need to be adressed in translation. I know that I've seen some dubbed (Godzilla) movies that I thought were terrible, then realized they were actually a lot better when I saw them with subtitles.

Grimakus's theory is actually kinda twisted. Tagruato Headlines say that Ganu is visiting America. Days later, MGP appears. I can just see MGP walking through the office halls of Tagruato.

MGP: Hey, Jim.

JIM: Hey Ganu. I thought you were in America.\

MGP: Not until the 18th.

i've not seen this posted in here, but ANN gave dennis props for the manga find but has this in their article

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-01-16/shonen-ace-posts-cloverfield-movie-tie-in-manga-online

Quote:
On January 11, the website for Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shonen Ace magazine posted the first chapter of a tie-in manga for Cloverfield, the upcoming American monster film from Paramount Pictures. Artist Yoshiki Togawa centers the Cloverfield: Kishin manga around a Japanese high school boy named Kishin. Kishin's fate is tied to the apocalyptic events that take place half a world away in New York City. Togawa will draw four installments in the manga, but each installment will be taken offline as a next one appears. The second installment will be posted online in late February.

Bob: So, I heard you were going to New York on the 18th.

MGP: Yea, buisness trip.

Bob: I was thinking about going there with my family on the 19th.

MGP: Don't bother. -sips coffee-

So if this is true I propose someone keep this thread open and keep the first chapter so we can reference it as they come out, just in case arguments insue

I'll observe Kadokawa webpage and translate the following chapters.
I'm glad that the whole viral thing won't end on the 01-18-08!

Well one thing is funny it seems Ganu changed his last name from Aiba to Yoshido to match his mother's maiden name, perhaps he was ashamed of his father?

But why change from Kishin to Ganu?
