[SPOILER]Early concept was the real deal?

is it possible that the grey statue with the humanoid crabman was actually a very early concept. from the GIF we see this morning it look like they tweaked it, but came from that idea. ive searched everywhere for the pic but i cant find it. Anyone got the crabman statue art?

especially in the face/shoulders. musculature is very close.

Hard to say, they both have human like upper bodies, but so do humans. Do you know where it originally appeared?

I know this has nothing to do with Cloverfield, but the crabman kind of looks like the Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The only similarity I see with this creature and MGP is the fangs, humanoid torso, and possibly nose.

I think technically you could post this picture for most any movie featuring a monster and say it was an early concept for it. The Pale Man, some of the creatures from Silent Hill, Resident Evil etc. The reason this is true is because this model is a very unoriginal concept with a quirky twist to it (the big crab claws). Other than those claws it looks like a million other monsters I have seen, pale thin skin showing partially deformed or atrophied musculature and blade like feet set on backwards bending chickin legs, Big mouth full of fangs, no nose with the nostrils and lastly no eyes at all.

Voldemort in Harry Potter.

I hate that movie, but I saw the picture and showed it to my sister before she saw it and it scared the shit out of her. Good fun.

When I first read "crabman" I thought it was a walking STD/STI.

Yay! I finally found this bit of text that's been floating around the internet for a while now. It's supposed to be creepy, but there just might be a bit of truth here (and aren't the best ghost stories the ones that might be true?)

Many classic horror icons, such as Geiger's Xenomorphs, Silent Hill's Pyramid Head, and other disturbing creatures, share common characteristics. Pale skin, dark, sunken eyes, elongated faces, sharp teeth, and the like. These images inspire horror and revulsion in many, and with good reason. The characteristics shared by these faces are imprinted in the human mind. Many things frighten humans instinctively. The fear is natural, and does not need to be reinforced in order to terrify. The fears are species-wide, stemming from dark times in the past when lightning could mean the burning of your tree home, thunder could be the approaching gallops of a stampede, predators could hide in darkness, and heights could make poor footing lethal. The question you have to ask yourself is this: What happened, deep in the hidden eras before history began, that could effect the entire human race so evenly as to give the entire species a deep, instinctual, and lasting fear of pale beings with dark, sunken eyes, razor sharp teeth, and elongated faces?

Be careful out there.
