[SPOILERS] Is anyone else overcome by emotion?
My final thoughts before I really see the film. May contain spoilers.

I'm sorry for the long post, but I've got something to say.

I realize that probably everyone here who is a die-hard fan like me has seen the videos, the pictures, the .gif's (thanks Gwaka), the website and Myspace updates, everything. Despite my Boot status, I've been keeping up with this religiously since the teaser came out, and I lurked here for a long time. Much like Grumpypants, this film has been like a baby to me. It has grown and become something...well...alive, and huge (but definitely not a lion).

And yet out of all the aching questions I could ask about the ARG (especially if it will continue), I find myself asking a very crazy question: Is anyone else here overcome by the same emotions as I am?

A week or so ago, I saw fanart here of everyones' descriptions of the monster. I went to bed. And when I woke up the next morning, it was like realizing that something terrible had happened the day before. The mystery was gone. I felt satisfied, yet somewhat empty. When I saw the last video from JamieandTeddy.com, I didn't really think, "What a crazy hosebag." I felt sorry for Jamie. I felt a deep connection to her--she felt she'd been had, she'd made bad decisions, and paid for it with her sanity.

In the last few days, I have seen pictures of the small monsters, videos of the terrifying Grumpypants himself,

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
read about Rob and Beth's visit to Coney Island, heard the "Help Us" audio track at the end of the film (forwards AND backwards), and I've watched Hud die a very terrible, yet somehow inevitable, death.

And although I am so immensely excited about tomorrow that I

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
may explode like poor Marlena,

I feel as though that the true purpose of this movie and its casting of unknown actors and actresses is to build a connection to all of the characters in it and everyone that is here reading this right now. This movie is all about ordinary people in an extraordinary situation. It's like the clips on TV say: What would you do? Where would you go? Who would you go back for? And what if the place you call home is reduced to rubble,

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
and all of the people close to you die in the worst way possible?

While reading TIDOwave's last post, and seeing and hearing all of these things, I've been overcome with emotion. It is objective that for all of us here at Unfiction, this is no longer just a movie about a monster. It is food for thought--think of how many great ideas have been tossed around here--it is art, it is a statement, and it is an experience. Even though the real-world purpose of this is to make money, I can't help but believe that.

Whether or not you or even I like the movie, you have to admit: at least for awhile, we were all on the edge of our seats, and we were all putting our minds--and our hearts--to the test. Even though I know practically everything that will happen in the film from spoiling myself silly, I don't care. It will still be as wonderful as the day I saw the teaser.

Thank you, Unfiction. You've been good to me. See you at the box office tomorrow! Wink

It was very overwhelming. Seeing the characters we've gotten to know over the last few months go through all of that was very sad and scary. I know it is only a movie, but still.

Yep. I was thinking.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Aww Hud is so cute with his little crush on Marlena. What is her problem she needs to realize it.... Oh, I see the problem now. And then he had to get it too.

Cool post Katw0man...
This sure has been a crazy and absorbing experience...May the speculation continue, and answers emerge...

I was amazed by how deeply I felt for the characters. We've had that superficial idea of who most of them are from their MySpace pages and only fleeting glimpses in the trailers, ads, and previews - but we really get attached in that first part of the film, don't we?

I was so excited then so anxious once things got wild my hands went numb for a while. There were kids in the theater that were obviously oblivious to the online campaign and not exactly unselfish or disciplined - but they were all silent when we saw the pain of our characters. I didn't think JJ could make me feel the kind of dread and sorrow for these characters that I did. This is definitely a professional job of using amateur camera style to capture a real person's point of view.

Wow.
Did I mention I loved it?

I have the feeling that this movie is going to be a little meh for me. In September when I first saw the trailer I was so excited about the movie, now it's like ok, if I don't see it so what.

BTW, I am still going to see it tonight.

You really do become attached to these characters...even the millions that will go see the movie and havent followed the ARG will become attached to these characters who died in the movie....simply because it hit close to home...what I mean is that it was so REALISTIC...every single thing about the movie, you would think you were there with them, running away from the monster, dodging the blasts, and finding Beth...Im sure you all can agree on that?...Me and my brother felt like it was more of an experience then a movie.... you feel integrated in the movie, which I have never experienced before in any other. Incredible!

Something I must admit, I had long made a humorous and macabre reference to 'exploding chicks', but when I saw Marlena pop I really felt bad for her and felt a little guilty. She kicked ass on that little parasite, and did so for the sake of someone else. I liked Lena for being a hottie before the film, but I like her even more now - and hated ever the more to see her go.

I also agree, this whole thing has consumed a major part of my life since the Transformers trailer. I am not sure what I am going to do after it is all over, it will be strange to get my old life back Smile My wife will be happy!
