[SPOILERS INSIDE] Sequel confirmed? http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/10927
On sequels Reeves confirmed rumors, but was quick to set them aside. "Only time will tell. While we were on set making the film we talked about the possibilities and directions of how a sequel can go. The fun of this movie was that it might not have been the only movie being made that night, there might be another movie! In today's day and age of people filming their lives on their iphones and handy cams, uploading it to youtube…That was kind of exciting thinking about that."

Some points:
- Abrams wanted to "give America its own monster" - he would hardly stop at this film;
- The film calls the area "site 447" - even allowing for weird numbering schemes, there are obviously more sites;
- Nearly everything Abrams has done or is doing is franchise-related;
- The manga is already stated to continue for a long time after the movie release;
- A low-cost, high-profit film like this one provides the core cash for production company; and
- Abrams is already in pre-production on another ocean-based film: http://imdb.com/title/tt0443522/
Don't think of this one as the end of the line; think of it as the "teaser".

Could his pre-production film be a sequal that he is "bigging up" already with the manga comics? i dunno

Dum dum, Dum, dum... From IMDB
Quote:
For a school project, Hunter Scott opts to research the sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis in WWII. Scott's investigation ultimately causes a re-examination of the case.
Maybe MGP was there instead of sharks, or with them.
Only Quint knows.

LOL; "here's to swimmin' with bowlegged women."
Since it's pre-production, the description on IMDB could be a complete sham; all they need to do is have something to explain why they're hiring people for a water-based movie.
And, the writer listed for the project did "The Water Horse", "Dinosaur", "Out to Sea", "Flushed Away", etc; he might be the real writer, or just there for fun.
If it IS the next project, then the "Indianapolis" story just makes it a neat homage to JAWS.

The best "sequel" IMO would be the same 7 hours experienced from a different group's point of view.

I doubt a sequel is in production at these early stages.
The added "help us" or "it's still alive" is probably added there in case paramount greenlights a sequel.
If how ever a sequel is confirmed and put into production im guessing we are likely to see a teaser with the Star Trek film. Most likely im guessing it wouldn't be shot with handy cam again. I'm thinking that JJ would take the film in a new direction. POV from military maybe? Like a war film. Or since it seems theres more then one place were Clover of CloverS have attacked we are more likely to see it from there...London perhaps..
That would be so BADASS!

I wouldn't go so far as to say that anything is confirmed...just being thought about.
Having a sequel (and what kind of sequel) will greatly depend on how well Cloverfield does at the box-office.
If they were to do another one, I'd prefer that it was a full-blown motion picture with all the bells and whistles.
Maybe with some new hand-held footage interspersed throughout the movie as government (and other) agencies view it.
I liked this quote: "...I think we pushed the limits on a PG-13 rating we certainly shot a harder version than what is on the screen ..."
Come on DVD director's cut!

I'd like to see it from the military's/governments POV.

I don't think I'd want to see the exact same portion of the attack from another POV. I'd rather see more of a time right before the party is interrupted, basically the arrival; or the time after most of the action has gone down in Manhattan, perhaps when MGP has been driven off the island and is headed elsewhere.
Sandy Hook NJ, here we come?
Oh, speaking of NJ - who wins, MGP or the Jersey Devil?
(Heck, MGP could even be the Jersey Devil. Could explain a lot.)

I'd like to see something along the lines of Blair Witch 2...
...It's still a Lion...

Don't think of this one as the end of the line; think of it as the "teaser".
"Site 447" doesn't necessarily mean there were incidents in other places; it might just correspond to some kind of grid map they use (Example: Area 51; this name comes from an area of the desert from a grid-type map. There were Areas 1-50, but most probably didn't have any importance).
And the "teaser" thing:
I've been thinking that maybe the ARG is the real experience and the movie is just another part of it; a part able to stand alone as an experience itself, but not the totality of it.
So, I don't necessarily disagree with your ideas, I just don't think there is enough info yet.
