This makes me so angry. Why can't we just enjoy a freaking movie?
Seriously that guy is annoying.

I just want to scream. I forgot that the 1-18-08 site was open (for the sencond time this week) and when the monster roared I was like I know how you feel buddy.
MGP really came to destroy the guy who wrote that.

Cloverfield is about as related to 9/11 as Bambi.

"Oh god! They killed Bambi's dad! You see the killing?! Know what the terrorists did?! They killed! Sweet Jesus!"

But you forget, that was a 20th Century Fox movie. Wink

Fox is jealous because they couldn't think of something like this. Now they're doing whatever they can to bring it down.

God, I hate this petty bull Censored . Grow up !

WOW

I guess this is why we should never talk religion and politics...Do you really think ANY News network or news print is giving you the whole truth? Is FOX news any worse than CNN, MSNBC, BBC or any other popular news network? How about the Washington Times, or the New York Post? Do you think you are getting an unbiased opinon from them? Do you not think they don't have thier own agendas? Don't you think the first thing on THIER agenda is to SELL?

Don't let news propeganda brain wash you. You are all educated folk, watch them all equally with a "salt shaker" and then THINK people, and form your OWN opinon from many resources!

If we continue to split into us and them, FOX vs. CNN, DEMS vs. REP, etc, etc. It only boads continued unrest in our country...and (conspiricey theory here! Another Civil War!)

That morning, my wife and I were both getting ready to leave for work. Just as we were about to walk out the door, her mom called to tell us that there had been a big plane crash. Turned on the TV...saw the first tower on fire after being hit. We stayed home to watch as long as we could, and when we arrived at work nobody was working..they were all in the break room watching the television, in complete silence. Minutes later the first tower collapsed......

What does Cloverfield have to do with the above???

Make of that what you will. Wink

as sad as it is true, i think you hit the nail on the head there. Competition is competition, same company, just a subsidiary. You gotta do what it takes to beat them out that weekend, when they know they dont have a chance . Sad that its filtered into news now, but didnt you see this coming in the last few years especially with the networks, doing pieces on shows on their networks. God i hate that worse than product placement

Edit, and apologies to Super Squirrel, didnt see yours there too, both of you got it

Now that statement's just laughable. "We're Fox News, we know what you're thinking".

Get off your high horses you flashy, unneccesary news article bloodhounds, you so strapped for decent stories you need to attack a disaster movie? Rolling Eyes

1. the reporter tells the reader to go see the movie in the article.
2. The tv spot urges people to see the fun movie and says this is much ado about nothing.
3. MSNBC and CNN both reported the SAME EXACT THING, since it was 9/11 groups making the claim, not foxnews.

Listen up folks, Fox is no different than CNN or MSNBC. They aren't trying to take over the world and they aren't trying to destroy the movie cloverfield.

1. Must we really go through every little thing the writer says that's bad about the movie simply because it evokes 9/11? Besides, he only says it's good "commercial entertainment". Trust me, this never means good in reviewer-speak. This means borderline, at best. Just look at my post earlier in this thread to see pretty much everything he says about 9/11 and Cloverfield together bolded.
2. What TV spot? I have not seen this TV spot. Show us.
3. We're talking about a review. An incredibly biased, ill-informed review that's going to tap into fears and hostilities of a large number of Americans because they're going to read the first three paragraphs (statistically proven - people generally read the first three paragraphs of an article before turning off) and see "it's bad because it evokes 9/11".

Get your facts right, buddy. Please?

Fox has their own agenda. Did no one notice the Fox movie 29 Dresses came out on 1-18-08. Initial estimates said that 29 Dresses would beat Cloverfield in the box office, but opening day Cloverfield CREAMED 29 Dresses.

Fox wants to badmouth Cloverfield as much as they can because they have a movie that is competeing with it this weekend.

FoxNews - neither fair nor balanced but ALWAYS pushing their own agendas and interests.

Ok, EVERYONE of these articles makes the same claim:

Why aren't you all frothing at the mouth about them?

As quick question, Do you think the other news channels have agendas or just fox?

And to Bacon:
Quote:
But I suppose I'm being too sensitive. "Cloverfield" is just commercial entertainment. If you don't read anything into it, this slightly plotted edge-of-the-seat nail-biter is a good big studio take on "The Blair Witch Project." It's the perfect winter doldrums popcorn fest.

HE TELLS PEOPLE TO SEE THE MOVIE! What the hell is wrong with you?

I think all the news media has their own agenda and will tell you what they want you to hear as opposed to truth.

I do agree the film has that 9/11 feel to it, but that's completely unavoidable. I'm glad they didn't compromise their art to be "sensitive." You'd think that if someone is still sensitive about 9/11 that they just wouldn't go see the movie.

There's no reason to make the 9/11 feel the center of the story about the film. But, hey, in the end all that talk is probably going to increase ticket sales rather than hurt them.

Going back to news media. Like I said, none of them are unbiased, but Fox News annoys me the most. Especially after the whole Ron Paul thing. Look it up.
