Good point - well if the real batmobile won't be there, this design copy will:

New Video
Clue

New Video Out - The secret is in the symbol:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OU8M7RPMdWQ

Below is a screen capture It looks like a symbol on a picture of a small girl (she is wearing a jumper).

Edited: got a better capture that shows the symbol is actually the same - the triangular symbol. You can see it better here - it is drawn on top of the photo.

Interesting find, seems a little off though anyone agree, a little to straight-forward. Anyway it seems creepy if it is a movie and mow we know there is a friend involved.

Spanish language version

As linked to above, the vids are up on youtube under an account named seeitnext.
The first one lists vequesigue.com in the tags. This turns out to be the spanish-language version of the site. Different girl, and in spanish, but otherwise, seems the same.

This is looking like a short term ad campaign. Still no car connection, tho. Seems like a negative marketting decision to string people along on something like this to release a car. I mean... we haven't even seen an identifiable car in either of the two videos yet, right?

I'm new too ;)

If it's for the auto show, then why is that woman looking so freaked out?
And I live right by the place where the Michigan auto show is going to be, so if anyone wants me to go there I can probably attend it. Even though people seem to think it's mostly for the Chicago one Razz

So their making a car show or car be advertised by using a viral marketing strategy where a women is freaking out over what seems to be a cult.

New Spot on TV
See It Next

Tonight I saw a new spot for this. It had that little girl and more stuff. The main girl gets a call and the voice says something like being close to the curtain but take the trailhead?!?!?

Does anyone know what that could mean. Curtains or trailheads?!?

seems fun to play along!

Yes I have an idea what that means - in ARG's the "curtain" is what divides the puppetmasters from the players and the trailhead is the site or info where the game begins.

I'm not sure they are using it in this context - I would like to see the ad myself.

It does seem like an odd tone for a car show -- using odd symbols on images of little girls doesn't seem very positive. It could just be a bad design though. I don't think we came up with any other answers for the General's north chamber which is what led us to the car show.

At any rate, we don't have long to wait as February 4th is not far away. After waiting months for Cloverfield, waiting this time is simple.

Happy to run recon

HA lives around the Chi area. Happy to do some intel runs if anyone figures out where we need to be. I am trying to figure out what else the "general" could be and what else might be a "north chamber" in and around the Millennium park area.

We have the Indians on horseback, the lions out front of the art institute. The Field Museum, the Planetarium, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Art Institute of Chicago, Millennium Park, "the jelly bean (that's what I call it)", there is a garden and the new "Martin Center" (I think it's called that) and it is located pretty much at the base of the buildings you are talking about. More if you need me to go down and take digital picts( Wooooo Hoooo . . . an ARG in my town, finally one I can help with).

Also, I saw the ad myself and immediately thought ARG by the way it was played out on the screen. I will say that it played during prime time (6 to 9) hour in Chi so the play was clearly made to the prime time crowd (more expensive). Any more as I watch tonight to see if it plays out again.

HA

I was thinking the same thing - when thinking of a car show with the future designs, I think of something fancy, expensive, sleek, futuristic, etc., not scary.

I did notice on their videos they have the keywords under science and technology though so I checked the Museum of Science and Industry and they have a new exhibit called Earth "revealed", but it doesn't seem to go along with the video either.

Edited: On another forum, someone that saw the new ad suggested that maybe it is related to Motorola since she appears to be talking on a Motorola telephone. So I went to the Motorola website, and noticed that their logo is different, but does resemble 2 diamond inverted shapes (pointing up instead of to the right and forming the letter M). You can see the logo here:
http://www.motorola.com/ on the upper left hand corner. So if anyone happens to see the new ad, watch for the phone and see if it is obviously motorola or not. It seems as though they have a fancy new phone that plays music - maybe trying to compete with Iphone
http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/rokre8/ Maybe they will have a booth in the North Chamber.

And it has 2 triangle buttons on it for controlling it- but not 2 pointing in the same direction - 1 pointing right for the music and 1 pointing left for the phone.

Aye, that's what I thought when I saw this ad. Rather cryptic if not for an ARG or something of the like.

I just saw the ad and the Motorola phone stood out quite prominently.

seeitnext
viral marketing

the chicago auto show is going to open to the media on February 6. It will be in the North and South buildings, so the "next" car would be seen in the North building. The venue will be revealed on February 4, just in time for the public to come check it out on the 8th.

viral marketing again

the car manufacturer will try to get people's attention with the "next" car, at a time when everyone has learned that a car can be made and sold for under $3,000 like in India. It's like convincing people to buy $500-dollar blue ray players when dvd players for under 30 bucks are okay enough.

What's at the North End of Grant Park?

I live in Chicago and recently went to the "Harris" theater which is located underground at the north end of Millennium Park. It's underneatch a large outdoor bandshell. Millennium Park was created from the land that comprised the "North End" of Grant park.

http://www.harristheaterchicago.org/current

I saw the reference in an earlier post that the reference to "curtain" might be something to do with a stage so I figured I would point out that there really is a curtain under the north end of Grant Park.

The Chicago auto show is always at McCormick place...which is located immediately south of Grant Park. You can see all 3 locations (Millennium Park, Grant Park and McCormick place) at the following link.

Link

Also - if you look really close at the picture of the little girl (as creepy as it is) it appears she is holding the bottom corners of the arrows. Not sure what this may indicate but the position of the corners and her hands seems a little too coincidental.

anyway...my two cents.

EDIT: Fixed stretching link. - Rob
