What book do you click on in the library to input the final passwords to get the journal entries? I've run my mouse over the shelves several times now and am unable to find anything cliclkable save the original journal2 entry

I emailed Edwin to ask if we'd finished his section and also to ask about Morcar.

He said:

Quote:
My section is complete. However, the Queen is allowing me to stay to find my brother. I'm afraid that, while I have now seen this message (it was pointed out to me just this morning), I only know what your and yours have shared with me.

While the machine was my invention, I must say, a very unusual element that has been relatively unexplained still bothers me. There was the case of the odd, "phasing" as Morcar called it previously. I lack a better term, and as the machine is missing, I can't continue my research into the phenomenon. I do wonder if they are connected.

The Queen has asked me to fall silent beginning tomorrow, as it is another's turn to speak. I will still be around and will receive your messages. I will try to make sense of them and be of use when I am allowed to return.

May I ask a favor? Many may not know that I will still be around but unable to reply after today. Send my regards to any who seem confused by my silence. Tell them I will get their messages and reply when I have the Aces' and my Queen's consent.

Morcar Theories Again
Edwin's e-mail

My theory:
Quote:
He went with the suits [korp] when he was first missing. They bought him new clothes. They are bribing / tricking him into giving them copies of the designs, hence his trying to make his own. And they are on a tight schedule and badgered him and he ended up stealing Edwin's and taking it with him.

Edwin's Response:
Quote:

I think your theories hold water. There is a lot of evidence to point
that direction. Unfortunately, I know little of the suits.

They seemed very interested in my work, but I never allowed them access.
Maybe Morcar was their doorway.

Morcar

So, guys, I noticed that in the middle of the message from Morcar that he mentions a date. It is the date of not this week's reveal but the week after. I feel that this saga may be continuing sooner that at least I had originally expected. However, I fear that that will bring the folding of Edwin to a sooner conclusion than hoped. Thoughts on what the rest of the note could mean or what could be happening on the 27th?

It's a tiny greenish book on the second shelf to the right side. But here's the direct link: http://www.silverladder.com/clubs/4c/Archives/archives.html

I sent to Edwin:

Quote:
Could this phasing me due to Morcar not having all 6 capacitance lines into one conduit? You mentioned that this might defeat the interference. Is it safe for us to convey our ideas to Morcar directly, via email? Or do you think that helping him might be a bad idea due to his involvement with the suits?

Edwin sent back:

Quote:
I just don't know what causes the issue. Obviously something very strange is going on here. You are welcome to try contacting Morcar if it seems to help. I fear giving away too much though...who know's who might be listening.

Edwin,

We are seeing even more messages from Morcar. The same message each time, but in more places now. I'm pretty sure you were already told of it, but the message is "hlp pls hlp ol;mkdnv"

The placement of these messages is beginning to make me wonder. You spoke of him phasing out, becoming transparent as your invention printed out his thoughts. Do you think it is possible that instead of his thoughts being copied and printed out, he was instead being transferred -into- the invention? Is it possible he is now some sort of ghost in a machine?

Edwin's reply:

Quote:

While I can't say what has happened to Morcar, he is gone without a trace.
This is most unlike him...but then again, the last few months were very
atypical. Your hypothesis intrigues me. I suggest you follow your leads.
If no conclusion presents itself, discuss this with your colleagues. I'm
finding your group to be quite intelligent and capable of great things
when working as a unit.

Haha...this is just a coincidence, but who remembers/is familiar with the Ghost in the Machine theory?

I mentioned to Edwin that we were trying to decipher the audio clip on SilverLadder and asked if he had any inventions lying about that might help us out. His reply:

Quote:
I'm afraid my technology and inventions are not equipped to deal with this unusual problem. If I only had the Box back...at least then I could diagnose the problem. But Morcar seems to have taken it somewhere. Maybe the first course is to locate the Box. Is Morcar giving any information on his physical location?

So we need to find that box.

Interesting side note, I got rid of too much noise in the track and ended up with R2D2 sounds:

I am sorry to digress but I have been having conversations with Edwin about the System Error. Since he is now silenced I'd like to post the conversation.

WWIS wrote:

Dear Edwin,
I will acquire the EP's [he recommended some Aphex Twins] you recommended as well as the other music you have used. I'm sure I'll enjoy all of them. I have read your personal journals and I have to say (as I am sure you have heard many times already from the other passengers) that I believe your Brother is "in cahoots" so to speak, with the Korporation, or the nice men in suits who smell of cigars and cologne. It's only a theory and a suspicion and not an accusation. I only thought that I would share my thought with you.
Before you are silenced, I thought I might ask: I have heard that the System Error has been solved. I have recently... lost touch... with my fellow passengers and so I do not know how it was solved. I was wondering if it would be too much to ask if you could tell me its secrets.

Finally, I would like to thank you before you depart. As a fairly new passenger, this has been my first real experience with the deck and a member of it. Your challenge was engaging, difficult, but, most importantly, fun. I thank you for the lessons learned and the experience granted to me. I hope to speak with you in the future.
Farewell,
Kavé

Edwin wrote:

No one has brought the System Error's solution to my attention. To my
knowledge, it remains unsolved...but there are places the deck cannot go
for information. Do ask around for me. If it is in fact complete, I
would love to speak with the one who answered it.

Really, the solution is only a very small part of a much larger picture.
Don't obsess over it too much.

Your information about my brother is appreciated. I know of the
Korperation. Unfortunately, I know very little. They don't tend to
reveal much of themselves but I suspect their motives may be contrary to
mine. I do hope you are incorrect about Morcar, but I suspect you are
right.

WWIS wrote:

Well I have to say, even if it the smallest piece of the puzzle, I am obsessed because I can not find the answer. You keep telling everyone that we should apply Ockham's Razor. Well Ockham said that the simplest equation with the least of complications is the best. Well the simplest answer to this is that you wanted us to see the word "NEXT" repeated a few times. This is the simplest answer that I can find. Yet, I can not think of a reason as to why you want us passengers to see the word "Next" or what kind of clue it may be.

Edwin wrote:

Well, what would be next?

WWIS wrote:

That is what I am contemplating. What would be next, I suppose, is the answer. But it all depends. Next after what? I'm trying to think more and more but all I get is trivial solutions. What is next? Well after next there are numbers. But what good do those numbers do me? What is next after the Computer Room? The research library. Just as trivial and answer. What would be next after an error? Well after trial and error usually answers are revealed but then I am still left without the answer. Now I try and analyze your words. It is a smaller piece to the bigger picture. The big picture could mean your entire week and the history and puzzles within it or the entire year that encompasses this experience. In relation to the entire deck and what will be next is, as I see it, me and my fellow passengers will be changed people with our minds expanded and opened to new cultures, ideas, art, music, information, etc. In relation to your week, what would be next is the Four of Hearts and a group of passengers who have learned to experiment, use Ockham's razor and research. In the end I'm left with the same question. What would be next?

Edwin wrote:

I like the breadth of hypotheses. Very thorough. And now is where Ockham
is most useful. Given your possibilities, which is most direct, likely
and most useful to your present circumstances...especially understanding
that my entire house pointed towards a single solution.

As you've noticed, I won't give away answers, but I will continue to guide
you as long as you need. I hae no doubt you will succeed. I only hope
the simple result will suffice as reward.

WWIS wrote:

The simplest of results will suffice as a reward of knowing I answered the question at hand.
I have analyzed your words and given this much though. The most useful answer would be that next is the answer as well as the most simple but I do not think that this is what you are implying. Possibly more simple, I think you mean that next are numbers.
Could you have meant this to be a clue in addition to your quote from Red Dragon? Next are numbers. We should focus on the numbers and through the numbers we will find the answers? As we did through the dates of your journal entries?
This does seem to be the most useful (although not for my present circumstances), the most direct, the most likely, and it does seem to follow the theme of your home.
Am I correct or should I think more throughly on it?

Edwin wrote:

I do hope the Queen will forgive this minor transgression...for you see,
it is to me now that I fall silent until the next card has left the table.

Your assumptions to the System Error are on the right track. The answer
you seek will resemble much of the other elements in this challenge. I
will continue to receive your messages but will be unable to reply until
my return.

May we speak again. I wish you well.

I was so close. Ah well, I will continue to work on it.
Again I am sorry to digress I just thought everyone might want to read this.

And one last question, what's Morcar's e-mail?
I haven't found anything about Morcar except for the SL homepage and that, upon manually writing the url for 4H, I am asked for a username and password to access "counters."

Any help?

Thanks.

EDIT:
P.S. That last post sounds like he'll be able to come back after the next card.

Morcar's email is morcarSPLATsilverladder.com

Also the index has been updated again. Now there's a partial picture of a face and binary everywhere that says "help me help me help me help me"

Interesting. I e-mailed him a while ago and no response.
As for the face and binary, I saw that.
There is also a hand.
The face has been photoshopped so that the inside of the mouth has been cut out and so the teeth look sharper as well as to make the mouth look swervey and both images look like they were images from a photo-copier.

Another possibility: Morcar is the four of hearts/spades ('next').

1. 2x, that would make me SO happy. I really love the direction Edwin's week went, and having to help Morcar for this week would just be amazing.

2. That face scared the hell out of me since I was only expecting the hand again.
I mean, holy shat.

Speculation:

Morcar is still in the house with Edwin, but he is out of phase and thus intangible and invisible.

This device (when perfected) might be used by the Cheshire Cat in later weeks.
