What about the survivors from the TV crew? They would have equipment to communicate to a sat.

Could also be someone at TAG Communications.

It only seems right to do a Sqealer right now. Or at least amp up the ARG/ARE to start offloading other products i.e. SLUSHO!, MANGA, CLOTHING and other products.

A buddy of mine who works for a company in Cali that collects sounds for movies says that a rumor busted out this morning in So Cal that there are supposed to be cell phone videos and cam videos of dif POV of the monster(s) all over the net. I have yet to find one. And he has been known to be bit dramatic soooooo.

Hmm...very odd that they would essentially 'hide' this on a show that nobody seems to like or watch.

This stuff just gets stranger and stranger.

There is precedent for the laying of clues in odd places. It serves to draw in new blood to a game, to attract people in who otherwise may never have heard of it. (Although in this case, it was to draw them to the movie, not the game.) It can usually be counted upon that the interested groups will hear the message, if nothing else then at least second hand. Last, it adds an aura of mystique. A clue, seen by few, existing half as rumor.

...or so I think.

Think about it like this...they don't want to just toss stuff out, they want us to find it and be excited about it and keep looking for more...which is what we've been doing (...well, not me, I wait for others to find it, then just read about it here Smile )

They probably said, "let's kind of hide it a little, and if no one notices, then we'll put it out in more places."

As you know, we did notice it, and they (the marketing guys, or Reeves/J.J. or whatever) would probably try to find out if we did.

Also, they may just start showing stuff like this more and more, building up to something (sequel?)...

I'm hoping for the last option.

Now, if the movie was of MGP trashing Degrassi High, it would be tomatoing at 99%.

Everything happens on channels I don't get...damn university cable.

Just to note, they're talking about Cloverfield on Hypaspace Weekly (sometime during the show, which is on right now).

that kinda implies that he's hacked into something and is sending an SOS... but that's not Roblike at all...

Why not? Despite the dumb decisions he makes throughout the movie, Rob did go to [EDIT]NYU[/EDIT]. I don't think it's a very big stretch to make a character who went to [EDIT]NYU[/EDIT] hacking a computer.

BTW. Unfiction is SO SLOW!

Rob went to NYU. And he posted a blog about how he has to learn this computer programming he doesn't understand. Those put together nearly rule out hacking. Unless studying that taught him to hack.

Wow, if anything that makes this more relevant. I mean, what a random thing to even bring up.

Well you said that and it was inaccurate, at least according to Rob's myspace page. I should have quoted when I posted but I figured since it was the post up it was relevant. I was just making sure someone didn't start using what you said as fact and then began speculating incorrectly about it.[/quote]

No, you're right. After spending time on IMDB since Unfiction is so slow now, I forgot that the Unfiction folk aren't nearly as dimwitted as the IMDB folk. I mean, seriously, if I were posting on IMDB and I added, "Oh yeah, sorry, you're right. I heard wrong information." about the MIT thing to my last post people would get stuck on that and not read the rest of my post.

But you are right, I edited my earlier post in order to avoid confusion. I heard from someone about the MIT thing. Thanks for the clarification!

Someone posted this in another thread (or something very similar) saying they saw it during Dora the Explorer..
and the guy said "Robert Neville".. which is the promo for 'I Am Legend'
where he says something very similar to what y'all are saying you heard..

"please.. if anyone is out there, you are not alone" (don't know if those are the exact words)

are you sure that is not the ad you heard? was debunked very quickly in the other thread.

here's the link if you're interested
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23855
not saying it's most definitely the same thing, but it's odd that someone earlier in this thread mentioned Dora, as the person in that thread did.

I can't see them pushing a sequel so soon. Not impossible, but definitely improbable.

Personally, I think the date at the end of the movie is subtle implication of a future sequel, but for the purpose of analyzing this tidbit, I'll remark.

We know the N is owned by Viacom, part of Paramount's family of companies, which includes networks like BET and MTV, which broadcast and record programming from a studio in NYC. The message was first noticed on the 12th, and is seemingly a 'day after' message regarding Cloverfield, except the events supposedly haven't happened yet in game/real time. The explanation: some disorganized control room operator ran the ad a week early. It then ran again a week later, at the appropriate time slot.

Is it related? Most likely, since Paramount could facilitate the message running on the network at a time slot they dictate as part of the viral campaign, as well as the Cloverfield commercial airing shortly afterwards on the next commercial break and leaving us to fill in the gaps logically. The concept: Someone, not necessarily Rob, survives the initial carnage, has made their way to the broadcast studio on the following day and manages to send out a message during a preset broadcast feed. It fits plausibly in the game timeline, and the real world facilitates this - but I would have coordinated it with other networks at the same time such as MTV to increase the number of people who would have seen it. It does seem out of place airing on Degrassi instead of a more 18-24 age target audience for the film.

That's all I have to say for now.
