Slushoman,

Just wanted to fill you in a little bit. For months now people on this site have journeyed together through this amazing Cloverfield viral marketing campaign. It has been an absolute blast. I feel as though I have made some friends here and that we here, as friends, have been through a great deal together. We've made discoveries, formulated theories, pissed each other off, etc. Viral marketing, as it applies to feature films, is in its infancy. We here have played a part in that. It is just too cool.

Several people here took the time to get out there and shoot a commercial for the Slusho contest. Regardless of how things turn out, the process was incredibly rewarding. And in the end everybody who made a commercial earned a spot in Movie History. Viral marketing has now proved itself to be hugely effective. Just look at the weekend box office take for this film compared to what it cost to make it...amazingly profitable! Other movies will now follow this template in hopes of duplicating this level of success.

My point is that everybody who participated in the viral marketing campaign, and those who made commercials, all of us, deserve to be congratulated equally because we all helped make this campaign, and in turn this movie, a success. I understand that you just came across this site. I congratulate you on becoming one of the "Chosen Five" but would humbly ask that you exercise a small degree of tact about announcing your victory. Some here will not win a spot. Let's not add insult to injury by gloating. That is not what this experience is about. We all kicked ass but there are only five spots. The math sucks but the experience has been awesome.

Congratulation again to EVERYBODY who participated regardless of the outcome. Without all of us, and all of our hard work, the campaign would have sucked major donkey d_ck! So Yeah Us! And welcome aboard Slushoman. I can't wait to see your winning entry!

Slushoman,

I apologize on behalf of the entire planet for your negative experiences...all of them...ever. There. Is that better?

Holly smokes dude. Chill Out! I am sorry I said anything in the first place. I thought I might try to warn you before someone left you a really nasty message. See, on this board people will flame you if you get too personal or rude. I will keep my mouth shut from now on. No problem.

Just so you know, I got some negative comments as well. I deleted them and then you know what I did. NOTHING! I moved on because I really don't care to get involved in any negative B.S.. Period. You might try the same tactic, instead of stalking down your detractors.

You mentioned that you supposed that I must have wanted to win really, really badly. Well, if you had followed my posts you would soon come to understand that you are wrong. I mentioned time and time again, including in my previous post, that the reward was the experience, not the prize. I don't think I could have made that point clearer. Ask around. I am sure that others will back me up. True, I did get really stressed out during the notification period...for sure. Not that it is any of your business, but I wasn't worried about winning. I was concerned that I might not have submitted my commercial properly. You see, my daughter was in my commercial and I wanted to make sure that I did things properly so I could give her a chance to participate in this whole Cloverfield/Slusho thing. I would hate to think that she would suffer because I did not dot all of my "I"s and cross all of my "T"s.

Again, this was never about winning a silly laptop. If that's why you entered then fine. Have fun. I am a teacher and I teach a course on film studies. This contest was a way for the average Joe to participate in a little bit of movie history. That is my interest in this whole thing.

I apologize if you were offended by my posts. I would only suggest that you go back through some of the threads and read my previous posts if you want to know what's going on. OK?

Congratulations on winning. Enjoy your laptop.

Slushoman,

This entire Slusho/Cloverfield experience has been such a positive thing for me personally that I think it is best for me to not respond to you after this post. I don't know you and will not judge you or what you have to say.

I will say, however, that I am sorry that you seem to be so put out by comments posted about your commercial. If your commercial has truly been chosen as a winner then what difference does it make? You won dude. That's what you wanted...right? It is my humble opinion that whoever judged the entries did so without regard to any petty comments posted by petty people. The rules never said that it was going to be a popularity contest. You are making a big deal out of something that has absolutely no consequence. I have an ex-wife who does the same thing. Very Happy

As to who might have left you some negative comments. I mentioned to you that I am a teacher. I have a lot of students and they all knew about this contest. Is it possible that they, or someone they knew left those comments? I have no idea. I would hope that they would have been supportive of me, and not malicious towards others. I don't teach them to be negative. It is not my style. I can also guaranty you that I did not make any negative statements about anyone's project...including yours. Never. Not once. I have tried to be a positive influence during this whole process because I felt that there was great value in PARTICIPATING in this campaign. It was NEVER about winning for me. I approached this process with eagerness, joy and a certain measure of maturity. I might suggest that you try to incorporate the latter characteristic into your idiom. It might help you get over this vendetta you have for those who offended you. Life is short. Focus on the good stuff. Revel in your position as a winner (that seems to be important to you) and enjoy your new laptop. Ok? Have a good life buddy.

To everybody else on this board,

I really hate to be distracted like this from what has otherwise been a fun experience. I promise that I will not be sucked into this negative posting junk anymore. It is a waste of time and serves no purpose (just like my ex-wife. OK..sorry. I'm kidding...really. Just kidding). Bottom line is this. Cloverfield ROCKED! The viral marketing campaign was a huge success...thanks to all of YOU! And you can't drink just six!

Laughing Hey this is barbtati and would like to speak for myself. If you go back to youtube and and look under comments, I replied to your last comment. I never meant anything ugly. I apologize for hurting your feelings. I replied to several commercials. I also have been on this sight as well and have enjoyed it. I do not know this reagan88. I just happened to admire his work. Congrats! O' I love animation.
