Well...if they decide to make a sequel and do it handheld again, I'd like to see them make a series out of it.
Reeves said that he'd like to make a sequel about the same night, but with a different camera.
Now...it only took them about 6-7 months to make this movie, so...
Perhaps they can do one movie a year...same budget (maybe a little more), same night, just from another point of view.
Perhaps from an embeded reporter with the military or even someone from TIDO, trying to document the event.
Maybe you could even see Rob, Hud, etc passing by.

I want an answer 'Some of the above'. I'd love to see both more viral and I could see a more conventional sort of prequel about MGP's origins, not in quite an expository style but more of an evidentiary one - let your brain take care of the rest. I would expect such a prequel to greatly involve Tagruato, and possibly the military. I suspect a sequel if documentary would be the 'end of action report' from the military, with evidence of origins, footage from the existing film and other sources, and documentation of what actions were taken and which were successful.

I voted other because I like the documentary idea, but I think that would limit it.
I feel that they could almost make it from the monsters point of view. Many parallels could be drawn between what the monster did and what a normal person would do in that situation. I don't mean that they put a camera in the monsters eyes and we see it like that though.
We got to see what people would do if a monster attacks, but now I think we should see what happens when someone, in this case the monster is thrown into a hostile place unfamiliar to them.
I hope someone gets what I'm trying to say.

I want answers! Thats pretty much what I want..
I was so irritated to find out that Tagruato, TIDOwave, and Jamie and Teddy led to a dead end. NOTHING was answered!! I can't understand why they would put such an effort into these virals and have it end up as nothing. I don't know if they had more planed and then they just said, "eh this movie doesnt need all this other stuff, f*ck it.." That seems to be the case sadly.
I would love to get a sequel maybe even from anoter camera where some of our questions are answered. All of my friends that have seen Cloverfield thought it was an awful movie! Mainly because nothing was answered. I don't think they really appreciated the whole "realism" aspect of the film like I did. I just wish some things were made more clear!
I feel completely cheated by the virals which just ended abruptly.. They need to bring them back up and end them appropriately. I mean what was the point of dragging out this whole sea bed nectar thing and what not?? It makes no sense!!! lol I can't believe I am actually angry about this... Good God...

Putting the viral marketing stuff in it would definitely ruin the whole idea of the movie. J.J. Abrams would never do it.
I want another piece of footage from the incident. Perhaps from a group of people who last longer. Or even a continuation from Rob and them.
I do not want a non-documentary style movie. That would be way too much like every childish monster movie ever made. (With the corny scientists walking around the labs and the Marvel comics looking US president being all overly dramatic. BOORRRINNGGG!
Cloverfield is a ride. That's the beauty of it.

I also considered a sequel based on another group of people that lasted a bit longer or survived the ones in this movie. But wouldn't mind if no sequels are ever filmed anyways.
Some things are better left alone ... with its mystery.
And it's better to remain with many doubts than have them resolved for you only to know that the explanations are crappy or don't satisfy you.

This could be big folks.... Yeah.
Cloverfield 2: The Hudson Valley Arrival.. Where MGP just looks around and tries to figure out how to get the hell off the 278.
Cloverfield 3: Clover Takes Cleveland.. You see MGP smashing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame like Pete Townshend's guitar.
Cloverfield 4: Crimson and Clover... MGP takes in a Wisconsin Badger game.
Cloverfield 5: Deep South... Clover Tecumseh Sherman battles humidity and shitty Atlanta traffic, watches a Nascar race and drinks RC Cola.
Cloverfield Balboa: Clover introspectively debates whether he as a monster still has it to fight on.
Cloverfield 7: The Reunion. Rob, Beth, Lil, and MGP all join the cast of Real World and discuss their issues. They all channel the spirit of Hud. And the monster has an epiphany, repents, begs to be forgiven and gets a job working for Oprah promoting barack Obama.
I say if we're gonna ruin this movie, let's go all out already.

totallyy. i also saw someone else was saying they want like a series of handheld sequels. That would be so done and tried by the third. I mean even by the second, we would be like...o-kay. but it could prolly work. but the first will always be the best to me. Answers can be given through so many other mediums besides a movie cause, movies are MAJOR. try virals or DVD.

Exactly. A major motion picture is like the end all be all. It has to be all things to everyone involved. I seriously think the people calling for a sequel are merely asking for the answers they want to come in the wrong medium. That's all.
My only point is Cloverfield was different. It's not even like a monster movie. It's like taking part of a monster movie and extending it and making it brutally real and not giving the reasons why or how.
The mystery is what fuels the entire thing. Diluting it just lessens the effect.
I go to see a silly or goofy Youtube clip. And I laugh at it. I don't go searching for all the backstory and lead up to it. It is what it is. And this movie is like dropping one long clip out there. Here it is. It's intriguing and forceful and shocking and real. Take it for what it is.

I want the ARG/Viral to run it's course(it hasn't yet)
There is no form or format or way how I can see how a sequel can be done with this movie. Sucks as it may be, the story would be cheapened if we attempt another movie.

yes!! finally, put into words. Movies are there not just to give us answers. Cloverfield was so enjoyable mainly cause of that reason, and if a sequel comes out, it would be giving us the opposite of what it became at first.
