Sorry, nothing to see here, please move along. Unless someone shows Transparent wrong, which I doubt. Influenced memory on my part lol.

Was there a fun fact on TIDOWave that had a date of 1969?

No, there wasn't. They were on 1961, 1981 and 1986.

Could be an origin date key. We were tossing tons of crazy stuff in the ocean then too. Mostly into the various trenches. Nuke sub maybe?

Thinking wild here.

What if MGP's devastation was so huge that it was regarded as a changed of era and a new year count started. Then this 1969 would be around the year 3977 of our count.

Ok, you can start firing at me now.

That is not such a horrid idea but I don't see why the date would be flashed on the screen.

I actually had a discussion with a friend on the way home from seeing it that something like this would change our world for the better in the long run as people would probably become closer after realizing how insignificant we are compared to such a large event, something like 9/11 but on a VERY bigger scale. I mean I would guess something like 2 mil at least deaths from MGP and the military, something about a THOUSAND times as many people as 9/11.

Well, if that nuke test is the reason for the date, then my guess is that it's meant to suggest that Tagruato used nukes beneath the ocean floor for oil drilling purposes. It could have been a joint operation with the US military, which could explain why they had advanced notice of the attack.

Hey -this doesn't contriubute at all to this discussion, but I thought it was fancy that I was born exactly 10 years after that date. Smile

Fancy! Laughing

Well this is for sure a clue. I find it hard to believe that they would flash a number date up there without a purpose.
Someone needs to keep on this.

It seems, Rulison would be the right hint, though... perhaps nothing, but I found that:

It looks impressive.

So I thought the Tagruato mention of 1969 and the National Space Development Agency was more likely to be something ... here's what I found ...

It is located on Tanegashima Island, 115 km south of Kyūshū. It was established in 1969 when the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) was formed. It is now run by JAXA.

The activities that take place at TNSC include assembly, testing, launching and tracking of satellites, as well as rocket engine firing tests. It is Japan's largest space development center.

You know what is funny. If I remember correctly weren't all the Japanese monsters like Godzilla the fault of US nuke testing or something like that? What if JJ and DG turned the table with Cloverfield and place the blame on Japan? It appears to be that way with Tagruato being the sinister player here.

This was mentioned way back there (by Transparent), but it took me a while to find it, so here it is: NASDA was founded on October 1, 1969 (EDIT: read the date wrong...'tis fixed).

And, btw, the last episode of Stark Trek (outside of syndication) aired on September 2, 1969. That episode was *completed* on June 3.
