WARNING: Do not post links to illegal copies of Cloverfield! Unfiction will not allow links to full, illegal/pirated versions of Cloverfield being circulated on these forums. Please do not post, or you'll risk having your account disabled.
Thanks.
[EDIT] And yes, this includes links to other illegal downloads of commercially available material like "Roar!"

How does UnFiction feel about clips?
Just curious.

Do notice it was stated 'full versions'. Even clips have been taken down on several sites, so there's still a risk it would bring unwanted attention by legal departments. Not hosting it here is a start, but we also don't want to be providing access in any way to something that would not fall within 'Fair Use ' guidelines. A full copy of the movie, even if it's not full quality, is not covered under Fair Use. Clips would mean you would have to be taking footage in a theater, which is criminal and of course not endorsed by unFiction. You do such a thing at your own risk.
Some further reading on Fair Use:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use (Wikipedia's Fair Use declarations are a good guideline)
http://w2.eff.org/IP/eff_fair_use_faq.php Electronic Frontier Foundation's information about Fair Use.

Alright, I don't have any pirate versions of any part, but I was wondering about the various clips that have surfaced on uF.
I'd much rather just continue to see it in theaters.

Although I respect not allowing copyrighted material to be distributed illegally, I have one serious issue. Director Matt Reeves, himself, put in final quote of this movie IN REVERSE. So unless you illegally recorded or taped it, or you have some amazing superhero ability to understand human, english speech in reverse, you had to use a computer program to decode the statement. Now why do that if you DON'T want people using computers to watch/listen to the movie. Seems like they lead you down one road, then force you to take the illegal left turn to get the whole picture.

Don't forget the whole movie is shot on a camcorder.
Ah the irony!
Well it's out here in the UK in 2 weeks, so I'll see it again on the big screen proper.

Those of us who can't torrent (bad connection speeds) will have to resort to other means.
Like praying for an early release date of the DVD!

Here's a simple way to consider it:
Ask yourself if you could argue to the administration here at uF that what you want to post follows Fair Use guidelines. If you can't argue that effectively to them, they can't argue that to anyone wanting to press a DMCA challenge.

I didn't know what a Torrent is. And i'm 28. Sad.
Anyway, I agree you should go buy a ticket and see it in a theater. Just like a band making a CD, buy it. It only furthers their success, and in this case, the possibility of a sequel (But, come on, I just saw at Blockbuster "White Noise 2", are you kidding). My thought on the matter is, if it's a debate regarding the ARG created for the movie, I think a small clip (under 5 seconds) would be ok. If they don't want this to happen, don't create the ARG. I heard the DVD is due in April, anyway. [/u]
