 		[SPOILER][SPEC][UNLURK] Creature + SBN + People = ?
Hi folks. I've been watching this site for a while and I finally thought I'd reg and post. I beg your indulgence on something on my mind. Very Happy

A theory that a guy I work with and I came up with is this. The creature's arrival definitely has something to do with the 'seabed's nectar' that is the 'mystery ingredient' in Slusho.

We think the 'seabed's nectar' is the monster's food source, or some such, and Tangruato's drilling/harvesting of it woke the thing up, and now it's following the 'scent'. Hence, the oil rig being destroyed...the sonar blips moving towards New York...the tanker explosion (possibly filled with SBN)...AND...

...at one point, Marlena says, "It was eating people..." That seemed out of place and unusual. Later, during the subway tunnel scene when the giant crotch crickets were attacking, they try to drag off Hud, but are fought off.

After that, one of the crotch crickets surprises the group in Beth's ruined apartment building. I don't think it just happened to be there. I think it followed the group from the subway tunnel. Otherwise, it would have already attacked Beth, who was impaled.

The beastie always seems to look at Hud...or look for him. Every time Hud's camera gets the big nasty in-frame, the thing looks at him. Also, the group seemed to run into Mr. Grumpypants at almost every turn...as if it was looking for them.

Hud drank some Slusho at the party. In one of Jamie's 'home movies' she eats some of the stuff sent to her by her captured boyfriend, Teddy. After this, she goes wacko-bananas and gets a little euphoric at times. I speculate this chemical does a number on a person's body after it's ingested up to and including the 'scent' of a person's body. Sort of like the way garlic makes some folks stink.

Now...follow me...

...at the end, when the creature swats down the helicopter and Hud goes to get his camera, he pans up and we see the creature standing over him. The creature swings its head from side to side as if it's sniffing the air like a dog. Those sac-like things on the sides of its head open and close as if those are the mechanisms that allow it to 'smell' the air. It looks a little confused because it probably can smell the seabed's nectar that's infused Hud, but it can't really determine where it is, which is why it's sniffing the air.

When it does locate the source, it looks directly at Hud, and eats him.

The creature is searching out it's food source/addictive substance and it's eating people that smell like it after they ingest it.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

You are forgetting one important thing, it did not eat Hud, it spit him out.

Good theories, but like headman said, most of them have been discussed at length. Still though, you have reached good conclusions.

NY may be a huge city, but MGP is a big boy - it would probably be hard to NOT run into him, espessially when you are conducting a rescue mission in the heart of ground zero.

The little guys probably did follow them, and maybe they can smell the humans, but that is all normal predatory behavior.

well technically it bit him in half. so maybe it only ate his stomach where the seabed nector was located. same thing with the little things. when the people who were bitten explode. they always exploded from the stomache.

 		So when did Hud drink Slusho at the party?I've seen the movie 5 times and sorry,Hud never drinks anything at the party.

Yeah im with cowboy i dont remember him drinking anything i would have noticed another slusho! apperance in the movie. The only slusho! thing i saw was jasons t-shirt

The only time Hud mentions drinking Slusho was on his blog.

 		I already theorized half of this I just never posted it Razz Although I was thinking more that rob had something to do with MGP appearing everywhere but I guess if Hud did ingest some of that crap than he would be the cause wouldn't he?

New here, been lurkin for a while and regular at cloverfield clues

anyways, where is the proof Hud got bitten in half? It seems as though the monster picked him up and threw him a very far distance based on the fact that Rob's and Beth's voices were very far away when he landed, and it took them a while to run over to his body. I'm sure if it bit his stomach off or ripped him in half he would have blood coming from his mouth when it showed his face

This is one of the parts of the movie that was very unclear for me. It makes sense that the film makers need the camera to survie (I.E. not become MGP feces), but I think that they had Hud fall out (at least the upper part of him maybe) because they wanted to make that cool shot with the camera trying to focus on him and the grass at the same time. Either that, or MGP is just a sloppy eater.

 		Yea it does seem logical that he could have been ripped in half, but how would half of him get thrown so far away from Rob and Beth? They were standing RIGHT next to the monster when Hud got picked up. I guess he could have started walking away with the bottom half of Hud in his mouth while the top half fell out.

Or maybe he picked Hud up in his mouth and just played around with his body. He did seem pretty interested in Hud

 		Whoops. I'll have to improve my 'search-fu'.

My friend and I work nights and are the only ones speculating about the movie. We took bits and pieces from several sources and actually wrote them out. Some of the bits were from here.

The one thing that stuck out in my mind was when MGP bit Hud. MGP reminded me of one of my dogs when it catches a scent in the air but can't figure out where it's coming from. MGP looked like it could smell something, but was confused because it was right under him. Then when he located the source, he made a Big Mac out of Hud.
