 [SPOILERS] "the creepy people-sucking underbelly"
Monster Toy

Um, from the description on Hasbro's site, I think there is a feature of the CM that no one has touched on:

Quote:
The party may be over when this beast comes to town, but the fright inducing look of the creature lives on from the creepy people-sucking underbelly to the swath of parasites the beast lets loose to hunt citizens of the 'Big Apple.' The figure also comes with two interchangeable heads, each depicting one of the Monster's moods: calm or agitated. The head of the Statue of Liberty, the iconic image which made the film's much buzzed about and analyzed trailer so eerie and intriguing, is also included.

WTF?? is that what those things were? maybe they just didn't get a chance to feature that....would explain Marlena's shock...'it was eating people'

woah!! you're right! thats crazy!!! those things on the underbelly did look floppy and tube like...maybe thats what they were meant to be for

Matt Reeves did say there were a whole heap of things the monster was designed to be able to do...but they didnt have the time/budget to show in the movie...

maybe that was one of them

Well, considering it's a baby...maybe this is its way of compensating for the fact that it has no thumbs?

Well that explains what those things are!

And what shot out the debris after the Chuai sank, perhaps.

Okay, I'm saying it just to say it... Did anyone consider the thought that J.J. Abrams didn't mean 'a baby' in the literal sense? When I read it, along w/ the other material- it sounds to me that the surface world is all new and frightening to it.

Also, Does anyone remember what Marlena said in the beginning part of the destruction? After the building collapses and they eventually come out of the store... She's all covered in dust, and they tell her that it's time to go, she randomly responds to them about something she saw, something that it did.

Totally weird! So far I've seen the movie twice and never knew what those things were used for, but people-sucking! Shocked lol

I suppose having "suckers" would have been useful when underwater-sucking up fish or anything that missed those mighty jaws...or maybe they were gills? Despite their use, I sure hope that all this will be shown in the deleted scenes on the DVD that I will buy asap!! Very Happy

I'm not sure, but isn't their some kind of aquatic animal that has a bunch of feelers on its underside? I have this image of some kind of fish, or possibly an arthropod that kind of hovers over the bottom of the ocean and sifts food out of the dirt.

The key to it is that the monster was a baby. The monster was suffering from separation anxiety and was absolutely disoriented and pissed, "where's mommy?", and terrified.

Sounds like a literal baby to me.
