 		holy crap i can not believe i did not catch that.

i guess i was too excited for the movie to start i could not pay attention to the slightest things.

anyways, that really does change everything

Cloverfield is officially part of the Lost canon. I know that is sort of a big statement, but JJ and his crew have been pretty specific about their projects and the universes that they exist in, and just wow...

So, that really means, with the numbers on the tape, and Beth's last name... If that logo is there, then that means all of the other "coincidences" are not coincidences. Now, I don't know what it all means, but it does mean something.

Wait now, hold up a sec. I wouldn't call this an official Lost connection yet. You're right, Abrams is pretty good at his universe things, but let's put this stuff together:

- Heroes, Alias, and Cloverfield have used Slusho, but that doesn't make them the same universe.
- Lost, Alias, Chuck, Pushing Daisies, Cloverfield (apparently?) and the movie Executive Decision all use Oceanic Airlines, but that doesn't mean they're the same universe.
- Mission Impossible III thanked the Hanso Foundation (or Alvar Hanso?) in the credits, which is a Lost thing, but that doesn't mean the film exits in the Lost universe.

Basically, what I'm saying is that Abrams likes to mesh things together, reference other projects he's been on. The flashing of a logo for a second on a video doesn't make it canon by any stretch. It's cool that he does so, but I wouldn't call this reference a fact yet.

HOW exactly does this change a thing? I believe that little logo could just be a little "hello" to all of JJ's Lost fans...kinda like saying "Enjoy my new movie, haven't forgotten about ya."
It's meaningless in this Viral Marketing Campaign.

I was all ready to get all hyped bout' the 'Dharma initiative' spin on things...
But i feel J.J loves to put these random 'signatures' in his projects...
He just gets off on it...

Cause it makes sense....in the "Universe of JJ Abrams", but honestly only JJ truely knows.

 		Okay. I'll admit that my enthusiasm and sureness of the "canon" quality of this DHARMA discovery is just because I really, really want it to be true, haha, but there's something else to it.

Sure SLusho shows up everywhere, it's a drink, it's to be expected. Coke and Pepsi are everywhere. JJ could easily slip a dozen Slusho ads into anything and it, well, it makes sense.

Same with Oceanic. You know, it's an airline. It's product. Product is everywhere.

But slipping a DHARMA logo onto the identifying official title screen of a tape that will hopefully unleash the secrets of the attack for the government, you know... That seems less like a "gift" for the fans, and just more substantial!

You know?

I mean, the whole idea of this movie, what we are meant to believe, is that it is found footage. To put that DHARMA tag on there really adds something (admittedly maybe only to me) darker and more sinister and more head-explodingly WTF than a quick glimpse of a familiar soda pop ad, especially when a soda pop ad is SUPPOSED to be on a tshirt. An airline is SUPPOSED to have a billboard. That's where the JJ high-five makes total sense. But sticking a DHARMA logo on a DOD tape that is under review and now everyone is talking sequels? Plus the fact that the new Lost game seems to take place in the same undersea trench where the monster took out the platform? And hell, just for fun, the sound of the Smoke Monster in Lost is shaded with a Taxi Receipt Printer because (per the Lost Special Features) JJ wanted the monster to remind people on a subconscious level of Manhattan...

God, I know I'm rambling... You know I was doing just fine until I found this forum. I WANT TO BELIEVE DANG IT! Very Happy

 		yea you may be right that its just a little gift for fans. but if it is confirmed to have something to actually do with cloverfield or the government then im sure it would change somethings.

i mean come on its Dharma lol. they are crazy

 		And the SoL head is seen in the new Lost ARG. I really wouldn't look into it, i'm pretty sure it's just an easter egg for those who are fans of both cloverfield and lost.
