Enitech has responded to my comments:

The fact that the message said "near the surface of the ground" leads me to believe the device was buried near the surface in that spot.

I have alerted steve, although he's at work now.

OK, I went by, and it seemed that someone had found it, as I found a pretty obvious looking place (see pic).

After I left, I discovered that it was apparently buried. I *did* see a place that was fresh earth pretty much right on the coordinate spot (you can see it in the foreground of the second pic). Meanwhile, I had to get to work.

"Near the surface of the ground" isn't a good clue, imho.

Edit - Added breaks in the description, was causing a bit of a forum stretch - C

Anyone in NYC getting it before 7PM

I have someone who is willing to leave work early to go get it and document the retrieval... but we are worried she would be leaving for nothing. Anyone know?

As of 4pm, I have not come across any reports of anyone retrieving either of the devices. As far as I know, we are the only ones that have the code posted out in the open and are actively looking for people to go get the devices (but my knowledge is admittedly limited). I've heard back from two of my contacts - both were hesitant for the same reasons, and I believe they decided not to go. I'm trying to check for info about every 30 minutes, and will post here if the situation changes.

Re: Getting the New York camera

Ok. I am calling her now to see if she is still willing and able to go attempt to get the camera. Any news I find out I will also share. Thanks!

Retrieval

I will be retrieving the New York package very soon. I will post when I have returned with the item.

Wish I could be lucky enough to retrieve a package, but seeing as I don't live in a big city, I doubt it would happen.

I'll pay you money for whatever is in the package XD

I live in St. Louis... so I am hoping that maybe since they hit the coast cities they might do something here Smile

News from NY:

A man named 'Bill' apparently picked up the package around 4:30 EST.

So I went to the store at about 6:15 or so, after telling Rowan that I didn't want to go earlier today because it is far from my apartment and I didn't want to waste my time, and someone had picked it up. It seems Lily is the owner of that store but she wasn't there. The woman at the counter was very helpful. She said I was the 5th person to ask about the package. She said she didn't know anything about it and had to call her boss when the person named "bill" came in to pick it up at 4:00 or 4:30 this evening.

It seemed a bit odd that Lily wasn't even there as we were supposed to ask her for the package, but it worked out fine (for someone.)

I'm not sorry I went if only because everyone who is following the game here at unfiction was wondering what happened.

I see a bit of a possible design flaw with only having two packages if people either can't find them from the directions or don't post when they find them. (This isn't the only game to have done that by any means, so I'm not just pointing the finger at them.)

I think there were never any packages to pick up. Maybe they were 'picked up' by characters about to be unveiled.

The woman at the deli said she gave the package to someone already and that she had to call her boss to ask about it. I'm sure she was being completely honest. She was laughing and a bit confused that so many people had come in looking for the package. Also, I think she was starting to wonder if maybe she had given it to the wrong person.

Missed!

Yeah, I was informed by someone working there that "Bill" had picked up the package an hour prior to my arrival. Wish I'd gone in the morning like I originally planned!
