Though while of course the movie had a script, both TJ Miller and Lizzy Caplan have said they did a lot of improvising in their exchanges together--I guess in part to help make the film funnier. Matt Reeves let them do it, so while some of the stuff might have been original script, some might have been them as well.

i really agree with you on this one, but what they want us to feel is that, in life no one is the "MAIN DUDE". everyone has an equal chance of dying that easily and that unexpectedly.
Marlenas death is completely unexpected and shocking. Shocked

i didn't think shed die. i really didnt. and i think she didn't deserve her death, but everytime someone dies, people always feel that that person dont deserve it, death doesn't provide special treatment to well-liked people.

when they pulled beth out of the iron pole.
they had to cross the roof of the other building to get down the stairwell, the monster was seen from beths apartment, she asked:

"What is that!?"

hud says:
"It's a terrible thing."

then when they reached the stairwell and the smaller moster/parasite was seen and after rob chopped it with the axe, she said again:
"What is that?"

to which hud says:
"Another thing... also terrible."

 		Too many to choose, but if I had to...
This one:
Hud: "Rob, you remember a couple years ago when that guy started lighting homeless people on fire in the subway?"
Rob: "Now's not the time."
Hud: "I'm just saying, how scary would it be if a flaming homeless guy came out of nowhere."

AND most def:
Beth: "What IS that thing?"
Hud: "It's a terrible thing."

In the stairwell:
Beth: "What was THAT?"
Hud: "Something else, also terrible"

And the exchange in the electronics store:
Hud: "Rob, it's time to leave the electronics store." (after telling him that the store was closed and that there's some horrific shit going on so they had to leave).

Hud was, hands down, my favorite character. I was so very sad to see him go in such a way. Because Rob WAS a douche bag.

And MGP wouldn't bother eating Beth - he'd give her a sammich instead. Or use her as a toothpick.

 		The part where the climbing the stairs of the building that Beth's apt. is leaning against and Hud is talking about maybe the government is in on it and Rob says something to the effect of "Do we have to talk about this now?" and Hud replies something like "Yes, because if I dont, I just my shit my pants here in this stairwell!" Laughing
