A sequel would be nice, but they would have to be very, very careful.

Once thing wrong and J.J. gets shot by some Cloverfield fanatic.

Er... that would really suck.

I would cry and kick and scream and giggle.

Anyway, I'm up for a sequel, but not from the handheld style same time of attack type thing. I want something equally new and fresh.

I don't think it'll do that well, though. It seems like the whole world generally hates Cloverfield, but we never get that on these boards.

20,000 on IMDb and it still retains an 8.1 average.

Really? That's pretty good... I know at my school I have one friend who thought it would suck and LOVED it, and the others didn't know much about it and all thought it was stupid and unrealistic.

Unrealistic? Give me a break. I'm sure a monster attacking NYC is totally realistic to begin with >_>

The best "sequel" IMO would be the same 7 hours experienced from a different group's point of view.

I agree with malemunyon ... and everyone else who has already basically seconded the idea.

Another movie made of found footage (ideally, if they do it well, there could be a lot more than two), that omits some of the "clues" given in this film but adds a few that weren't there in the original.

Individually, each film in the series would leave the audience feeling much like the original did - confused as hell (but hopefully pleased with the overall experience) - but when you piece them together you get a more complete idea of what's actually going on.

Unfortunately, if it's not done extremely well it'll just get old and cheesey really quick ... especially if the movie-makers cave under the pressure of making a more main-stream movie.

I think the best sequel would be in the form of like a history channel special from 20 years in the future fleshing out everything in the story. But that's just me. The best way for it to be successful is for either a prequel from the point of view of TIDOwave and their work or Tagruato's high ups and their knowledge/relation to MGP. A sequel with it attacking another city is also possible. I think a sequel filmed from the POV of the other camera man seen by Hud(the other guy also films Hud, interesting tie in IMO) would be cool for us fans, but it would probably not be successful at the BO.

The whole 'It's alive, it's huge' thing (was it in the movie? idr) was probably to lean to a prequel, like they thought it was dead before but it came back to life. DUN DUN DUN

Honestly, I just want another movie to help explain some things... The curiousity is killing the cat...

Don't worry, they're probably the same idiots that thought Saw IV was a masterpiece.

I found I enjoyed the movie much better after becoming aware of the ARG, than before.

When I first saw the movie, other than the interactions with the Monster, baby monsters and the military scenes, I found the rest to be fairly boring with a couple of exceptions. I didn't like the acting really, and saw the filler scenes sort of bland.

After spending a solid 3 days reading and getting to know the characters and the ARG better, the 2nd and 3rd time I watched the movie it was much, much more enjoyable.

To each his own I guess.

Sequal yes. But how to do it. At first I thought a much higher level view, like from the government, would be nice as it would probably answer alot. But then where is the fun? Perhaps something closer to what cinemaniac suggested. But instead of a grunt it could be Lt. Col Graff which would be the tie in to the first movie. High enough perhaps to know most of the story, close enough to the action to make it interesting.
But no on the "lets follow a different group around". I mean wouldn't their goal to get the hell out of dodge ASAP? What would be their reason for hanging around? Hence no action. Because pretty much anyway they made that type of a equal you're looking at evil dead 2. Spending a great portion of the film retelling the first one before anything new happens.
One thing I am hoping for on the DVD is a feature ala the remake of dawn of the dead, The live feed newscast of the events happening in the film and maybe an almost survivor's diary (which could be the other filmer they were talking about).
