[SPEC]Numbers at start of movie DoD (7)32-16-12 / DoD84621469-008 / NGTA 901-836 Dont know if anyone took a crack at this but lets go...
All these codes show up on the color bars at the beginning of the film...
Curious to find out whether these numbers were made up by random, or could they actually point to something
About the DoD (7)32-16-12 code and some wild guesses
There is a way to securely erase digital media , tape or solid state with a DoD method that has 7 passes. 32, 16 and 12 are all fat file formats ( perhaps this was a marker for recovering and / or destroying the film before it was transferred to an SD card.
The opening screen seems as if the contents were being presented for evidence...perhaps a court case....
About the NGTA 901-836 code
NGTA is an acronym for the National Guard Technicians Act established in 1968, and yes there were plenty of them in the film.
USGX - Cant find a thing
DoD84621469-008 - Again cant find a thing
Love to see what all of you can speculate with these Acronyms and numbers....
Edit - retitled for clarity - MikeyJ

Maybe they're just random numbers. When the matrix come out, did people try to solve all those 0s and 1s that flashed at times? Was it binary for "if you read this you have no life"?
Or did you make up these numbers and are a troll.

Or maybe they just made all that shit up randomly to make it look real official and fuel ridiculous online speculation.

Not a troll by any means, these are in fact numbers shown at the beginning of the movie. And yes who is to say they mean anything. Knowing the foundation of this movie everything has seemed to be very cryptic from the time we first saw the teaser trailer up to now.
Maybe they are easter eggs, care to speculate or critisize.
BTW we are talking about cloverfield here, not the matrix.

From the looks of it and they way the codes were displayed, it looked as if the "evidence" had passed through many sources before reaching the DOD's hands
Obviously the way it is handled, it would seem as if the DOD was building a case
Perhaps Tagruato had been found guilty of something in the set future
but thats just a wild throw.

Lots of stuff...
I'm going to guess this is our first time poster that gives us a big nudge in direction.
I have done a little researching and have found nothing. The "Technician Act of 1968" really has nothing to do with anything from what I can tell. Which makes you wonder why it is included in the beginning of the film... Maybe NGTA stands for something completely different...
I dunno, its not adding up, but it does seem like the next big clue is right around the corner. Keep digging and good luck!

DoD stands for Department of Defense...which is somewhat obvious. The numbers succeeding that are most likely some type of case number, most likely made up.
Who knows though, it could be a date, military time...
I think the main thing to be observed is the usage of the word "Evidence".

NGTA = National Guard Tactical Assessment
the USGX is possibly a fake reference but again, everything is speculation

USGX is made up, unless they're talking about Union Sugar Company. (http://www.all-acronyms.com/?t=usgx)
So lets figure this [PUZZLE] (hint hint, nudge nudge, tag this thread) out. US is obviously United States. G is probably Government, or maybe Guard. I'm saying Gov't. and X could like stand for Cross-something, 'cause very few words used in the White House start with "x". ("Say, when's my Presidential xylophone player coming in?")
Edit: Cross-reference?

Alright... Not trying to double post, just trying to get any leads I have out here...
I'm going to guess that all the numbers are different accession numbers; which Wikipedia would explain as being: "the sequential number given to each new book, magazine subscription, or recording as it is entered in the catalog of a library.".
Thats all I got though...
I hope to see some actual progress on this over the next couple of days. This is the best lead we got going so far, so lets pursue it.
We all know the movie inside and out, we've all seen the bootlegs, we know what the monster looks like, we know Hud's "one funny dude". Lets start focusing on the game again!

US Is Of course the united states
The GX could be a "shout out" of some kind to GX magazine, which is a highly publicized magazine that centers around stories surrounding the National Guard, so its possible it could be an easter egg of some sort.
Just a side note, The very start of the film, the timer forwarded into 3 Minutes and 56 Seconds ( look at the ticker under the color bars ). This has nothing to do with adding the time from the paramount and the bad robot logos...
Just thought you should know

Maybe the X is experimental abbreviated? X is also used to represent the unknown factor.
