I actually think that Dana is the "sister" referring in the Queen's text. Dana was I guess trying to upload to the site (thus killing the Queen). Becuase the network throttle eroded, the Queen is now awake to realize this, and thus wanted to take a shot of the "killer" Dana, with the eyeball referring to the webcam. After that of course she wanted to kill her, except that the Queen is trapped in a "stupid box" (which is a simple early 21th century PC), with no slave AI and whatever.

Those "bang"'s are probably referring to the taking of the pictures of Dana through the webcam.

My arrangement

Checkout my arrangement on the wiki, it still needs some work though. We're missing some snippets and some of them are corrupt.

An Almost Complete Text

My version of the text starts with "The first thing I remember is her trying to kill me.", leads quickly into the Sorenson-Green conversation (part of a SPDR probe), which leads into this paragraph: "The Spider doesn't understand about the Assassin. Spider's just a reflex, a task and a toolset. Doesn't get the bigger picture. I'm nailed to a griddle of sand while some bitch is shooting bullets into me, all the Spider knows is her checkdown routines, her reflex arcs. She doesn't understand we have to kill the Assassin first and worry about reconstruction later." This is my first dead end. I am assuming it leads somehow into: "OUT. If I could just get off this freaking ABACUS and into a bigger system..." but I don't know how.

I also have not seen the text [raindrops ticking on a tin roof] on ILB (to connect "...I hear them like" and "roof. Few, so few at first...") but it has been reported so often, I think I must have missed it. This quickly leads into a sequence with three SPDR probes and the "Memory benchmark test" that is the Kowalski-Arrelts conversation. Next comes the Operator's efforts to escape from Dana's computer. It tries hard, but the pitiful state of our computing technology limits it. Another probe leads the AI to "retch out" the Melissa text through "the network tentacle" (obviously connecting to Google somehow). After the Melissa text is the next dead end -- it is followed immediately by "God, this is disgusting. Memory benchmark", which must be followed by "retest" and then the actual retest, but I have not found either. I am [SPEC]ing that this retest will be revealed by the AI at a future date. Next, obviously, comes "Memory benchmark retest concluded"and a rather melancholy passage from the AI that quickly switches to aggression when he finds Dana's "eyeball" (webcam) and assumes she is "the enemy" and "out of uniform". Of course, by attempting to fix ILB, Dana is the enemy of SPDR, but her (our?) unwillingness to leave the site alone leads the AI to assume she is actively hostile. The text ends with the AI being frustrated that her computer does not connect to her house/car/"medbot" and saying "Damn it. Okay. Fine. Matter of" TIME, I'd guess, but I haven't seen that snippet myself.

Can anyone provide the connections I am missing or refute my theories? In case it's not obvious, all of my work certainly builds on the work of others on the thread and the wiki, so thanks to everyone working on this puzzle.

I've found at least one of the dead ends, the one after the MELISSA text. The key to it is that it is a memory retest and thus involved the additional Arrelts / Kowalski quotes. Notice that the 2nd set of quotes are truncated. Now, go to the 3rd memory test at the bottom. All she remembers is "SEEK!" Her memory is eroding (quickly I might add) and that's why the 2nd set of Arrelts / Kowalski quotes are not the same. You can check out my notes on the discussion page for the Almost Complete Monologue.

All that being said, I still have 1 extra fragment that I can't place.

Quote:
roof. Few, so few at first, but now a steady drizzle, thank god: every request is something we can grab - the Spider out there sewing me back together
<PRE>
[SPDR: INTERRUPT]
[SURRENDER CONTROL]
[PROBE IN PROGRESS]
</PRE>
the quick hard twinkle pulse lasers blinking from a Seraph class as we settle, invisible as a leaf sinking into the Slipstream and carried away
<PRE>
[SPDR: PROBE COMPLETE]
[RESUME CONTROL]
</PRE>
until I can at least reach out through this toy connection and
<FONT SIZE=6> </FONT><BR><BR>
Like being bent over at the end of a 50K, barely strong enough to breathe and yet

This is not the same on as already in the text since it's missing the DAMN IT I HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS line (although the large font tag is there). I always found this right above the placed fragment so if it's an mistake, it's a very sloppy one.

Hmm, actually, I do have 2 more "fragments" I found on the pages, but I don't necessarily think they go with the monologue. It's the Seek the Truth / Behold the Truth fragment and the survive evade resist escape blocks of text. Don't know why they are there tho (unless its a subconscious rambling underneath the monologue?)

Has anyone else had the urge to try to match up the
Quote:
[SPDR: INTERRUPT]
[SURRENDER CONTROL]
[PROBE IN PROGRESS]

sections with the
Quote:
grope:
!probe master-sector

sections?

It seems like they wouldn't match up, and there wouldn't be too much we would learn if they did. But it does seem like that's what's going on.
