I still say an FAE would've been the best thing to use. Suck the air out of MGP's lungs AND turn the parasite-spider thingies into crispy critters.

One thing I was thinking about with the parasites...Their bite causes humans to explode. Mixing acids and bases make for a big release of energy. One theory I've heard is that the "venom" or whatever from the parasites combine with the gastro-instestinal juices of a human, causing a chemical reaction and makes them explode. It would be interesting to find out--in the same way the monsters in the "Alien" series have acid for blood--that the parasites in "Cloverfield" have an equally strong base substance in their blood?

Couldn't be Nuke:
1. Nuke would of destroyed camera
2. Would effect and damage surronding states and the other boroughs
3. You're not going to nuke your own soil no matter what
4. Its gonna make other nations freak out and could led to war

Ok. Will people please read this entire thread before posting. If i see one more person say "lol emp" I'm gonna kill something. Probably 10 to 15 people have mentioned emp in this thread and if you look through those pages you can see the various discussions about it both for and against. Same with the "level the city" quote.

Well I've read through the thread and my real question is what time do you think this "picture" was taken and also do you feel this image in canon in the cloverfield universe.

If this is a valid image, what time do you think it was taken at? If it is taken after HammerDown (whatever it was) then HammerDown was likely not a nuke.

That's my 2 cents. It's the only thing I can see in this thread that hasn't een covered extensively.

No, it was discussed ages ago that the poster is just a representation of events, look at the dust coming off the head - there's no way the dust would still be falling after 7 hours. Also, there is a mark in the water, and the creature didn't go through water at the end of the movie. The poster is just to build hype and look cool, but it's not all based on one specific point of time during the film.

I see what you mean. Oh well that's all I had left. Hopefully JJ or some dvd special features will tell us what it is because I've heard to many good arguments from either side to really make a decision.
