Seems like paramount has found a new favorite way to advertise for films:) Too bad star trek doesnt have the same mystery around it that cloverfield had.

Well, just because they started this, I'd hardly say that the Cloverfield ARG is over.... but good find none the less. It appears we may have another VMC/ARG to follow.

Was this cloverfield thing ever really an ARG? there didnt seam to be an objective to all these websites and alledged clues seamed more like an interactive add campaign or experience. I wish people would stop refering to it as an ARG

Doubt it.
When the transformers ARG started it wasn't known that a movie was being made. I sincerely doubt that Star Trek will be a ARG, and if it is, it'll be the biggest one ever. Trekkies are NUTS!

Even thought I've never watched Star Trek, nor am I a fan, I am really interested in the new Star Trek movie, and hopefully, it's ARG that will proceed it. I'm just really into this "hunting for clues" type of thing, it's really fun, who's with me
P.S.
By "I'm not a fan" I just meant that I'm indifferent to the franchise.

No mystery? Granted, you know the OUTCOME of the early days of the Star Trek universe, but not vivid details on how it all came to be. Besides, with a universe as diverse as that, I'm sure they can come up with a heckuva lot.
And if you think Cloverheads picked the movie apart, wait 'til the Trekkies get a hold of this one...

I guess that is subject to debate.... but (as someone that didnt know a ARG from a hole in the ground before Cloverfield and this site) it sure seems like it was/is one to me. They definitavley created an "Alternate Reality" with ficticious corporations, eco-terrorists, characters, and a monster. They gave us clues to find other sites that gave us information about an unknown entity... I guess, if the VMC/ARG continues and ties up some (if not most) loose ends, it would be an ARG. Otherwise, its just an VMC.

Thanks for the link!
This goes for "SomethingTerrible"... dude, Star Trek is JJ's new project, he's directing it. Even if he wasn't, don't give Star Trek shit, I'm sure the old series was good (everything before this new movie to me lol) and this new movie looks very cool, even from that tiny teaser I saw before Cloverfield.
Besides, don't mess with Kirk bitch, he'll go Priceline Negotiator on your ass lol... j/k j/k
