My impression is that the Sakanas Herald is a blog for the same town as the Sacred Hat.

eta. Nevermind. I was basing my assumption on the fact that SakanasHerlad.com and SacredHatCasino.com both use images from the sakanas directory. I just noticed that sakanas is sakanas, ks and sacredhat is in Montana.

But that doesn't mean that Sakanas isn't on a reservation. Northeast Kansas does have them.

No more tourists in lame deer?

This entry is about the Lakota holy man; for the town, see Lame Deer, Montana.
Lame DeerLame Deer, (in Lakota Tahca Ushte;[1][2] 1900 or 1903-1976, sources differ), also known as John Fire, John (Fire) Lame Deer and later The Old Man, was a Lakota holy man. He belonged to the Heyoka society.

Lame Deer was an Oglala-Lakota Sioux born on the Rosebud reservation. His father was Silas Fire Let-Them-Have-Enough. His mother was Sally Red Blanket. According to Lakota custom, he lived and learned with his grandparents until he was 6 or 7, after which he was placed in a day school near the family until age fourteen. He was then sent to a boarding school, one of many run by the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs for Indian youth. These schools were designed to "civilize" the Native Americans after their forced settling on reservations.

Lame Deer's life as a young man was rough and wild; he traveled and rode the rodeo circuit as a rider and later as a rodeo clown. According to his personal account, he drank, gambled, womanized, and once went on a several day long car theft and drinking binge. Eventually, he happened upon the house where the original peace pipe given to the Lakota by White Buffalo Calf Woman was kept; much to his surprise, the keeper of the pipe told Lame Deer she had been waiting for him for some time. This served as a turning point in Lame Deer's life. He settled down and began his life as a wichasha wakan ("medicine man", or more accurately, "holy man"). Lame Deer was heyoka which means that you literally say and do things backwards in a humorous manner but whose spirit helpers are the powerful thunderbeings.

Making his home at the Pine Ridge Reservation and travelling around the country, Lame Deer became known both among the Lakota and to the American public at a time when indigenous culture and spirituality were going through a period of rebirth and the psychedelic movement of the 1960s had yet to disintegrate. He often participated in American Indian Movement events, including sit-ins at the Black Hills, land legally belonging to the Lakota that had been taken back by the United States government after the discovery of gold. The Black Hills are considered to be the axis mundi or center of the world by the Lakota Indians. Lame Deer's son, Archie Fire Lame Deer, also became a very well respected wachasha wakan; the family tradition continues today through Archie's children.

Based on the nature of the login screen, I don't think we're supposed to find a user/pass for this one. I think it's a legitimate admin prompt for the PMs, primarily due to the coding of the prompt being different than the one for Ravenwood.

[UPDATE] "the Cheyenne Government" drops flyers

There's a new entry on http://www.sakanasherald.com/sakanasherald/html/
Quote:
April 27
Last night a roar of plane engines at night filled the sunset and dropped hundreds of flyers on our town claiming that something called 'the Cheyenne Government' was under control and that we were under 'martial law.' I'll photograph it later today and post it so you can read it. Pretty spooky stuff. We've been up all night discussing the possibilities. The flag they're using is a variation of the USA one we grew up with and they claim they have a weekly broadcast on Mondays at 6PM.

That sounds like the flag seen on "Jericho", and...ooh.. a weekly broadcast on Mondays? That sounds promising.

April 27th is a Friday, that means Monday in 3 days. So Friday Night I expect that broadcast to be at Black Hills radio.......

I also translate the martial law and the Cheyenne Government to be the ASA Government referenced in season 2 CBS promo. Gang, we are less than a month away from May 23, when season 1 ended. If we play that forward to February 12th. In theory Sakana's might actually be 2 weeks ahead of what is transpiring in Jericho S2 which starts up again on May 23rd, 2007.......

What does this mean to the game? I think this upcoming message is our next play?

Broadcast Friday at 6:00 MTN our time - This appears to be the leaflet dropped on Sakana's. This has to be the kickstart we need in the game.

New Sakanas post :

June 1st
Happy June!! Well we have been planting and expecting a visit any day from our new government representatives west of us in Cheyenne. No visits though, I guess we are too small to get notice from the region. The electricity has been shaky but we haven't had a few days in blackout since late April. Planes are more prevalent, their noise no longer gathers a crowd, instead we save it for the nightmarish thumping of a vast amount of helicopters that seem to patrol the lands north of here. The dog packs have dwindled, knowing we now shoot at them from afar. We built one elevated guard post in the last few weeks on the south route out of town where the whole curved pass is visible. Alan and Mercury take turns manning the station. A cheap motion detector wakes them up in case something big shows up.

:Just a heads up for those who might not have seen it yet:
Cool beans peace

Considering how quickly the PMs shut down the unprotected image directory at jenningsandrall.com, does this suggest that there is something we are supposed to find in the open directory at sakanasherald.com?

IMO- and I could totally be wrong, if you were searching my website and found my images directory, I wouldn't care(provided you don't direct link). However... the government would probably have a small to very large problem with it. I think it's as simple as that. Also- the only things I could find looking through the Sakanas directories was an image of the buttons from the corner of a window, and an index0.php that says, only, "marcin."

[UPDATE] new entry - June 10

New post on the Sakanas Herald

http://www.sakanasherald.com/sakanasherald/html/

June 10
My radio popped to life today, a man from Wyoming was radioing. He was looking for directions. He told me he was a huge fan of the series I had done back in April of 2006 about state corruption in the Dakotas, he was a big fan of my insight into federal mining laws and the natural gas nightmares. He told me he had been able to find the remains of our blog and had been reading them (From MONTANA!). I told him I didn't believe him. He wouldn't say his name but that he would contact us again. He gave me a name that I won't repeat here, but he asked me if I know about it.
