Yes, that is kinda because of George Lucas' first movie, THX-1138. Afaik, there is an "easter-egg" reference to either THX-1138 or 1138 in every single Lucas movie to date.

It could be binary. The long lines are 75 chars long, the short ones are all multiples of five. With five binary digiys, you have the numbers 0 to 32, enough to represent the alphabet.

But, that is as far as I haev gotten.

 		I think it might have something to do with protein sequences. V is Valine and W is Tryptophan. But I'm not sure how to "decode" it.

I followed up on DM-Corleons suggestion

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Vs and Ws make up a substitution cipher - Each block of five corresponds to one letter.


It seems we may be in trouble for digging too deep on this one...

 		Damn, I was working on that (5 character substitution code) but I couldn't make it go anywhere (I suck at these things). I even had the e's in the right place. Then I got distracted by that protein sequence thing. Oh well.

 		Well, if you send mail to mercicontrol, you get back a message that contains

Then, in the decoded message, we get

Perhaps we need to validate a subjecte id with elc3433. I created a code for myself and sent it. In fact, by now I've send around 5 emails with various contents to elc3433SPLATsubcitycentral.net. No response at all yet, not even a bounce.
