[UPDATE] visce.com

Sorry for the double post. I haven't been here in quite a while. I believe I should have posted this here instead of "w/ Potential" area.

After nine months of no activity, I received another relay message from Kane.

"Hello Linda, this is Kane, It has survived, and it's alive."

So I went to the website www.visce.com and it reads:

visce//// Globat support ms bringning your websile to work. Pleabe be pstient as tive support propagates the domaan through the fite gateway channals located here in Washingtan. Do nol change the security nevel settings pnd do nol access the domain panal until domain propagation has finished.

The letters that should be there are lintsaliveotlate the wrong letters are tmnlbstataalnpla.

The old info is at http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18587

[EDIT] Properly tagged --Giskard

Mybad
I'm a smartass

Sooo...tonight, I check an email address I use for family and close friends when I see this:

Quote:
Date: Tue, 22 Jan 2008 15:27:56 +0900
From: "Brehon S" <brehon> Add Mobile Alert
Yahoo! DomainKeys has confirmed that this message was sent by gmail.com. Learn more

To: [my email]
Subject: Re: Hi

it's alive

My first reaction was *wait...I didn't use this for anything Cloverfield related...* but I was in one of my smartass moods and fired off an impulsive reply that:

Quote:
Are you sure? It could just be in a coma.

and hit send. Laughing

Well then it got to bugging me because only family and close friends have this email address. My husband asked if I used it for any of the ARGS and I said no, I used the tinag one til I got locked out of it and had to renew it all, hence new acct, sorry you can delete tinag222 please!

Anyway, I did come here again to check up on Cloverfield updates and while I was here, looked at the 'email spam or trail' thread to be sure and didn't see anything there. After thread hopping I saw the new post on visce.com by unholychaos who got an email from Kane, and I could see pretty easily the 'correct' letters made up "its alive" and "still alive" and "notate" and a few others that may or may not be relevant - but it immediately reminded me of the curious email I got from Brehon telling me it's alive. And then the whole "it's still alive" from the Cloverfield credits.

Nice month for stuff to be alive. I DID a search off the cuff, totally not expecting a hit, but typed in Brehon S and lo if I didn't end up with several tinag posts and a past correspondence with Brehon that I'd apparently forgotten all about. Still have zero recall of using that email account but hey, guess I did.

And because I fired off the smartass reply, they probably won't be letting me play anymore. Confused

But just in case, I wanted to add this for the official record.

Apparently, it's alive.

Now...what is the it that is alive? That was in March of last year! I need a refresher! Guess I'll go review the other thread then and catch up.

EDIT PS: Back on page 1 of the original thread, the WHOIS that kona did shows us that:

Quote:
Registrar of Record: TUCOWS, INC.
Record last updated on 06-Mar-2007.
Record expires on 04-Mar-2008.
Record created on 04-Mar-2007.

....they'd be on a deadline for March to either renew it or kill it once and for all...so maybe this time around it will play out?

Quote:

>>> Last update of whois database: Wed, 23 Jan 2008 09:48:19 UTC <<<

Am I reading this wrong - the database was updated or the site itself was updated?

LAST EDIT:

So I got on a roll and sent this to Kane using the addy provided way back when. If it's breaking protocol, I won't do it anymore, just swat me with the fish.

Quote:
Hi

Not sure if you can be reached anymore at this address but I will try anyway. I received an email earlier from Brehon saying "it's alive"...can you shed any light on this cryptic message?

Thank you

KK

Also backstepped some and sent another email to Brehon apologizing for the smartass one and asked about his message, what is alive...and at least provided a more functional email addy for this purpose. Not sure if either will respond but hey...

We shall see..........

Tiz what I get
for being a smartass ;-p

TJI....

Received a reply. Now, I *sent* it to kanejame - I thought that was the right one, or was it james? Heh.

Anyway, just got this in...

And in hindsight I guess I should've known better than to ask Kane to clear up anything cryptic...since he's the master of cryptic.

At any rate, either this is the wrong person or it's the right person and he's basically given me the finger up...or...here we go. If this is a legit reply par for the course, I'm gonna need help on this one. Otherwise I guess he wants to see me die naked? Shocked

SO WAKE UP OUT THERE ALREADY! Razz

EDIT: 5:33AM - Just checked visce.com again and there be changes. They should play nice...it might just be me up at all hours to play back.

Took a screen shot since it's liable to vanish in 30 seconds. Adding the image too. The source is this:

PS: is there a way to make the images smaller or pop up to the larger ones?

Looks like one of those Magic Eye Puzzles. I stared at it and thought i saw letters but since I'm at work I can't stare at it for long Smile

Maybe someone else can try it?

it's called RED...
the B&W image

I'm at work too, so i'm lacking my image editors.
however, the image is called RED. Try something with the red spectrum? Maybe some of those whites aren't as white as they seem...

Die as naked looks funny as hell, but I think it's an anagram.

What are all of those symbols?
May have been written in a different language, considering computers do that crap when you don't have a language installed.

Die as naked-
some quick anagrams:

A snake died
a sneak died
dead sea kin

'May he die as naked as when he was born and the Pawnee wolves count coup on him three times.

Data Matrix Barcode Reader Program

There's probably a better one out on the market, but this one's free and it should work.

Shocked

Well damn. That's out of my league. I don't even know what that is. But hey, like a trooper I DL'ed the programs and "analized" it to see if it would clear up and maybe get a hit on the png image.

It didn't clear up and neither program seemed to discover anything given whatever it was used for. I can only assume I did it correctly. I approached it mostly the same as I approach stuff written in a foreign language...wing it til I find something that looks vaguely familiar and click on something to see what happens. Nothing happened.

But like I said, this is out of my league so anyone with some code saavy will have to give it a shot.

Ouch!
If it is a QR code

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_Code

a camera phone so equipped could direct you a URL. My phone does't even have a camera, let alone fancy readers Sad

It would have to be done without the VERY large corner squares somehow, but the small interior square and the checkerboard pattern are present.

Found a way to encode QR:

http://nfggames.com/system/qrcodegen.php

This one encodes both types:

http://invx.com/

Some phones may come with readers, but this code looks different from any examples.

This looks interesting and I like a challenge. I may have a play around when I get home from work in an hour or so and will be sure to post anything I come up with.

Not a QR code, missing the position sentinels.

Ok then, maybe a graphical thing then. maybe playing around with the layers would reveal something, or maybe using red on one of the layers or colouring certain parts red reveals the clue. Just thinking out loud really...
