[QUESTION] Night-time attack photo I've been looking at that photo of the night attack, and I have to ask this. Are we sure that it was the U.S. in that attack?
The jet attacking on the top right I really can't fit in any of the U.S. current attack fighters. The logo on the tail fin doesn't seem right either. Figure I'd throw that out there.

Yay, someone new to the discussion who is ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTING!
I'll have to go poke around wikipedia a bit for fighter jets...

Well on the right you can see an A-10, which is a mostly(if not only) US used aircraft. I don't know what aircraft on the left you are talking about. You can only see a logo on the A-10 on the right. The other jets look like F-22's kind of but the images is pretty blurry so who knows.

I always thought it was an A-10, but it don't look like one. Like stated, it is a blurry pic. Another thing is that the Navy don't use A-10s' (spec.). Mainly ground targets they are used on. Plus the whole ships on right firing up in the sky and not down when that close is strange? Maybe they are defending?

Or maybe the person who made the picture didn't know wtf they were doing and were just making a military like scene at night.

Hey, can someone link the image being referred to?
And yes, A10s are mostly for ground combat. Hence the strange engine design...it's designed to be hard for ground targets to hit (the wings and tail protect the engines from ground fire except for when it is directly overhead...which would be a short period of time considering how fast they fly overhead)
EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-10_Thunderbolt_II
EDIT2: Cruise speed of 560 km/h? Yeah, that sucker is gonna whip right past you.

That looks like an A10 to me...
I suppose if it was a special case they would pull A10s out for water based attacks, even though it is primarily a ground attack vehicle.
Can use all sorts of ordnance, (Hydra rocket pods, anyone?)...blah blah blah... Yeah, i think that's the sucker in the picture
Logo on tail fin? check this picture out. Looks the same(ish) to me:

As for the other planes...no idea. Seem a bit to blurry to be sure.
Interesting thoughts though...
