I'm not seeing anything about a people-sucking underbelly on the actual site... I found it on 1-18-08truth.com. Not saying it doesn't have one, just saying that it seems more like a rumor.
Also, the sequence where it's picking something up; that can't be right. If MGP is roughly 30 stories tall, the thing in it's flipper/claw/trunk/whatever would have to be at least as big as a truck or a tank or something. A regular person would be much smaller than that.

Not necessarily, I think it's a case of perspective. There is another part in the movie, right when Hud first turns the camera on the monster after the helicopter crash, you can see the monster pawing at a soldiers body. The end of the appendage is consistent with the size in those clips. It's difficult to see in stills though. Watch a clip if you can find one and you'll see what I'm talking about.

i think he meant a baby in the sense that its been "asleep" for so long and its just now experiencing the world. i find it hard to believe that this thing was just born.

I understand that perspective can be misleading...but what's NOT misleading is the fact that the object being picked up: a) in no was resembles a human body and b) is at least 2 or 3 times bigger than the vehicles on the street below. You may be right - and it may be easier to see when in motion - but for the time being, I have to disagree.
It's already been pointed out that the statement quoted by the OP isn't official...and even if it was, what the hell does Hasbro know about the Cloverfield monster? Certainly not that it has 'people-sucking appendages'. They're probably provided with concept art and a copy of the film to go by. Marketing campaigns have a tendency to be slightly 'off'....have you ever read the film description on the back of a DVD that barely fits the movie? That's marketing. Marketing isn't always correct, and this could just be one of those cases...
I personally think that if the monster could actually have appendages or tubes to suck people up, it would have been utilized in Hud's death scene....that would have been much more interesting than simply being eaten, and it would have prevented the controversy regarding a giant monster even bothering with eating tiny humans.
Who knows...I could be wrong. In fact, I don't even know why I'm so opposed to the idea. It'd be cool as hell, I just...I think that the Hasbro marketing department maybe misinterpreted the appendages as 'sucking' tubes.
....Or....something.....

With all this talk about people sucking appendages I couldn't help but think of Bart Simpson.
I didn't think it was possible, but this monster both sucks and blows at the same time. At least I amuse myself. Carry on.

Or maybe it was just his one mouth and he was looking down.
Jesus, next you people are going to be talking about his red superman cape and silver glitter boots.
In other words, post pics or quit making shit up.

No i don't think that existed in the movie because if it had the tube thing why didn't it use it on Hud instead of using it's teeth

Then Pheonix, Cyclops, and Clover all got Rick Rolled.

MGP didn't have a second mouth...you see his midsection/underside a couple times and all that's there are the sets of "tube-like" appendages.
It would make sense to me. The monster is supposed to live deep under the ocean, it would probably use those to scavenge the ocean floor. The teeth could be for self-defense or larger meals.
It was already said in several interviews that the monster designer, Neville Page, designs things very intricately, and has a usage for everything.
