[SPEC] possible site login? this is really just a shot in the dark and probably nothing, but thought i'd throw it up here anyhow.
while screwing around on google, i came across the site:
http://bugmenot.com
basically what it does is give out logins and passwords to free registration sites (such as NY times). putting in the www.ilovebees.com domain gives:
username: Hayden
password: rascal
i never noticed a login on the ilovebees site.
interesting fact: Hayden may refer to the Carl Hayden Bee Research Center ( http://gears.tucson.ars.ag.gov )
discouraging facts: logins and passwords on this site can be posted by pretty much anyone, raising the likelihood that it's just someone screwing around. also, the bugmenot site actively promotes firefox, something i doubt anyone in an active microsoft marketing campaign would like to do.
just thought it was worth someone at a dead end maybe looking into.[/strike]

Well, who knows. Doing a query without the "www." gives the username/password of "shootkill/elite", "elite" obviously being an enemy in the original halo.

Re: [SPEC] possible site login?
I believe this site was something created to give people fake logins/passwords to use to get around registration-only sites, like for online newspapers and the like.

Indeed. And as Ilovebees is none of those things, a password/login for it is entirely moot, as there's nowhere to put said information.

Not yet... maybe it was put there for a future puzzle involving a login and password.

I posted another thread regarding a password prompt, and then read this one. Tried the password posted here and got a little bit further.

Perhaps someone with more knowledge can hack into the site.

oops... I was searching stuff the other day, and somehow came across that site. Not sure how it worked, I put that stuff in, and it just listed it. It's not anything to be followed....

Login thought Hey all
I did a search for this before posting (And I'm kinda new at message boards)
BUT...After reading this string of messages, I went back to ilovebees.com and checked something.
I used this: http://www.ilovebees.com/login
That went to a 404 ERROR, and had another variation of the webcam picture of Dana from the BANG! BANG! comment of the AI.
Anyone able to look at that image file for hidden dialog? I don't have those capabilities.

Just in case... I was working on modifying the URL to the DMG pages, when I came across a way of pulling up a login Prompt. Since the error page doesn't fit any of the other pages, we've decided it's probably OOG. Just to be safe, let me give you the method of how I did this, so you won't make the same mistake.
Seeing the code ACT | DROP frequently used in the computer code text, I decided to try the url http://www.ilovebees.com/net. !act|drop.html. When I did so -- I got a login box. I hit cancel, to see what would happen, and I got the generic IIS "login denied" page. We also tried the logins from the bugmenot site, but neither worked.
edit: to be clear, the reason the login prompt comes up for any URL is the pipe | in the address. You can try www.ilovebees.com/blah|blah.html and you'll get the login. In the future, when trying different combinations looking for the hidden page, don't include the |.
Please, don't try to hack this login. It doesn't appear to be anything game related.

I got all excited the first time I found this over the weekend (I think it was pretty close to the way you did, actually -- http://www.ilovebees.com/net. !attach.act|drop.html, or something like that), but then I noticed that the exact same prompt comes up if you try to get to any page on ILB that has a pipe (|) in its name. It doesn't even mean that such a page exists. Sigh.

any page that has a pipe character huh?..... that character | is used to redirect output between programs on a *nix system (ie: unix, linux, bsd)
could be a clue
btw, my fortune on Slashdot this morning: "You have a message from the operator."
edit:
looks like its just a bug i was really hoping for something, but look at http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5347 babbler's post, oh well

Can we figure out what software is being run to generate the error messages on failed login?
If it's some standard software package we can assume that we've found a PM behind-the-curtain door and leave it alone.
If it's not... it might be in-game.
In-game or not, however, I do not approve of brute-forcing unless absolutely necessary.
