You kno i figured that theonly grey areas would be complaining about the monster shots...but i went into the movie thinking i wasnt gonna see it at all and i loved it because it showed up so many more times than i expected
and come on dude its from a civilian perspective you really think hes gonna stand there and get shots of the monster? ala godzilla '98 and just "get missed" by the monster?
That's what I told him, that it wasn't so much a monster movie, but a movie about people trying to survive the experience, and I think they really did a good job of pulling that off. The guy I was talking to said he thought it was pretty good when he looked at it that way.

I thought the movie was half of the experience. The viral advertising which is rewarding the smart next gen viewer is the other half of the experience. So of course you didn't like the movie it was half the experience.

... LOL, tMan930! I think for most of the people who don't like "Cloverfield", it's the nausea from the 'shaky-cam' filming style that turned them off (didn't bother me, but everyone's different). I personally saw two people leave during the 'shaky-cam' sequence at the Friday showing I attended (1-18-08 ), and I could hear a guy behind complaining to his friend the camera "was making him feel sick" during the Sunday viewing I was at. A lot of people had trouble with "Blair Witch Project" for the same reason - different strokes fer different folks, I guess..!

No flaming. I dont agree with the people flaming the guy or other people who didnt care for the movie or didnt think it was the best movie ever. Its someones opinion and still coming to the forum has nothing to do with whether someone thought it was average. People might still be coming here for closure on all the ARG type things and intrigued by that or other peoples thoughts are. Maybe picking up on something that might change thier view. And like many of you they may go see it again. Like me, I thought the movie was better then average but not the greatest piece of cinema I ever saw, but I intend on seeing it again. I have been following along since day one and an average experience for me the first time I saw it doesnt mean I toss out all the speculating and guessing I (or anyone else) prior. So there is the continued storyline and sequels that maybe someone will like more. I wasnt put off by the shaky cam, understood that, understood the views of the monster, I just wasnt overwhelmed by the film and will continue to read posts and follow it.

Did you actually read any of these posts, like the one RIGHT before yours that offers possible reasons why someone who didnt care for the movie might still be here? I typed this response really slow so you have an easier time reading it.

I thought the movie was really good when I first saw it, but now the novelty has worn off, it's just ok. The shaky camera didn't help either.
As a business student, I love the viral marketing aspect of it.

You're obviously going to enjoy every aspect of the movie alot more if you've been following the hype surrounding it (All of the viral websites, and teaser vids).
If you just went and saw the movie for the heck of it, you're going to view it as just another monster movie and have a (most likely) totally different opinion on it.
