Oh, it's like that is it?
Peter responds

I sent this, to let the folks work it out for themselves.

While we don't have any Sentries in Sacramento, we do have a few in
San Francisco willing to meet your operative.
Please contact Dav FlameRock at <dav's email>
and/or our dear friend <Obs> at <obs> to make
further arrangements. They will be accompanied by a third party
(safety in numbers don't you know)
Also, would you be willing to supply a shipping label for our Atlanta
Sentry to help mitigate the cost of transport for something that is,
as you implied, potentially hazardous.

We look forward to a successful partnership.

So, I got a reply. Not a pleasant one as it turns out.

Perhaps I overestimated how ready the Sentries were for more professional
work after this email. Why don't we just pretend that you didn't send
personal information about your cohorts to me; you saw in West Virginia how
cautious one should be with personal details. We can also pretend you didn't
explain your security procedures for an anonymous mule dump as well. Even
more so, we can pretend you didn't ask me for a shipping label that might
reveal another of my operatives. I realize it is the confusion of
non-professionals, Mr. Joergensen, rather than any real attempt to suggest a
dangerous protocol for our first exchange.

At least half of the art of hunting can easily be misconstrued as hiding.
Another 40% is patience. A mere 10% is the gun, because you would never get
to use the gun if you were unsuccessful in hiding or impatient. If
Sacramento isn't convenient enough for you, perhaps you would like to
suggest an alternate rendezvous for unnamed friends to bump into each other?

If the costs you incur truly seem greater than the value you receive, I'm
open to negotiation. Since I would assume you wouldn't want me to know who
you're shipping it to, and since I don't feel the need to use one of my
other blinds in this minor of an endeavor, we might need to resort to actual
currency exchange, if that is absolutely essential.

"Sacramento" caught my attention.
Not sure what you all have going on (will try to catch-up if necessary). But I'm in the Sacramento area if you need any help on this.

Ouch, testy. This gives me an idea. We're going to need to work out the logistics of this as a group, so we are going to need to set up a alternative means of communication where we can bounce ideas off one another. Going over to So to propose an idea.

Hi Transtar. It sounds like you may not be aware of this?

I'm not sure how many more other alternative means of communications we need at this point Wink

No I don't, my (character's) thought process is that this is Peter's business and if we carry this out sloppily he won't continue to do business. the trend with Peter's e-mails is the more professional the e-mail the better received it is, I'm assuming he wants all transactions carried out that way, hence the need for a forum with come type of feedback (live or hidden).

I'm (IG) going to come off as a bit paranoid, but I think in the end the professionalism will be the key.

EDIT: D'oh that post...disregard everything above..I thought that was still OOG though, plus the fact that my work filters the unfiction site (and most other things). Going to work on a work-around.

Wow, touchy much. I suppose that we... ought to set up a dead drop then. Not entirely sure how he exactly wants us to go about this. And would he kll us if we asked?

To which I replied:

Mr. Severn,

Perhaps I overestimated the level of trust between our two organizations. I assumed this was a friendly exchange, not cloak and dagger activities. If operating at GW5 between collaborators is how it needs to be, then so be it. We are not strangers to this sort of thing.
As for pretension, I'm not going to pretend you don't already have the "personal" information I sent you on the sentries. We both know the same sentries have emailed you on several occasions, especially during our mountaintop "festivities". Bless them. If you feel that an anonymous mule is too risky, perhaps a dead drop is more to your comfort level. Maybe behind a dumpster at a post office somewhere?
Don't assume too freely that shippers can't be sent/received anonymously, but if it's a sticking point for you, let's just drop the issue. We'll front that cost.

And here I thought hunting involved sitting 20 feet up a tree sucking cheap beer until you shoot your buddy by "mistake". Silly me.

You gave me a city, I gave you a city. We have two cities. I'm sure we can work within that context. While patience and prudence go well together, by your own suggestion we are the ones sitting on an object that is potentially "radioactive, or electromagnetically toxic". It may even be full of "magik beyond our comprehension". So you'll forgive our desire to expedite the exchange. At this point the local landfill is beginning to seem like a better alternative to me. Bryce docs be damned, I don't need them. Alas, that is not my decision to make, the rest of the Sentries wish to proceed, so we will proceed.

I may soon be sacked as liaison. Very Happy

Just wondering if we've got any developments on this front?

Also, the chat application linked to previously doesn't play very nice with firefox Crying or Very sad Before I bother to download an IRC client, I was curious if there were certain times people tended to be in chat?

I'm not sure what was linked to, but the unfiction chat applet is running on an older version of Java which no longer runs for me. I do successfully use Firefox with the applet linked below, because at some point I upgraded to the latest version of Java. Apparently the applets are not backwards compatible, but either way, it's Java-related and not Firefox which is to blame.

this puts you into the #unfiction "lobby" by default, but type /join #stfeline and you'll be in. Also do /nick to change from the default name, to let us know it's you. People are in the room 'round the clock, but are not always awake.
