post 9/11 , there is no way ANYTHING is getting within 50 - 100 miles of our shores without it being picked up on radar and many other types of detection devices, especially something as large as MGP. Even underwater it would still be picked up. So the military did have a heads up. As for a conspiracy to keep it from the public, i dont see that. Of course you try to eliminate the threat without panicing the masses. Remember the whole thing in MIB. one person is smart. a bunch of people are stupid and panicy. imagine them sending a warning. a giant monster is approaching nyc. the place would go into total chaos. they thought they could handle it out at sea. were wrong, and paid the price.

would it be crazy to assume that MGP probably has natural stealth capabilities? a body created of nothing but carbon composite material? I duno if that makes u stealth or not, just sounds like it does! rofl)

ITS A MOVIE EXPLOSIONS ARE BIGGER IN MOVIES. It was the Tagruato Oil Tanker being annihilated by the evil f** ing monster. Explosions are bigger because stupid Americans love to see things blow up in movies it's amusing to them.

I've been thinking about this theory recently...probably wrong but sounds awesome.

MGP is rolling towards nyc at a ridiculousy high velocity. As he approaches the SoL he jumps out of the water and plucks it mid-air. He dominates the tag ship as he swims by it and plows straight into the side of nyc. I don't mean the city, i mean the actual land mass that composes nyc. That would create quite a tremor and would probably knock out a lot of power. He burrows through for a few hundred feet before burrowing straight up through the ground. After errupting from the ground he could have hit a number of things (gas line, propane truck, etc.), still having the SoL head in hand.

I know this isn't the greatest theory, as it kind of disregards the tag ship and other elements, but it kinda explains the earthquake and explosion. I just kept thinking about the ethanhaas era of this forum was filled with people thinking this was behemoth (or God forbid cthuhlu) errupting from the ground. The explosion does appear as if it is from something coming from underneath it, as it does not mushroom outward.
