If that's the one I'm thinking of, here is the Turk : to put it in a nutshell, the Turk was created in the 18th century and the first chess-playing automaton. It was actually a scam : there was a man inside, playing the chess games again its human opponents. A "real" Turk was eventualy built in the 20th century.

EDIt : As pointed on IRC, the Turk is also the name of the chess program developped by a Cyberdine employee.

 		The Turk was assumed to have been destroyed by fire in ep.3 of SCC - we should therefore presume that enough of it survived to develop into something in the future?

Anna: So please send us your photographs to feedbackSPLATenitechlabs.com. We're looking for photographs of anything, really - critical infrastructure to the city, your home town, crucial military installations - anything at all will be greatly helpful...

Mike: Now just make sure when you *do* take these photographs that you're not arrested by Homeland Security...

Frank: ::chuckling:: Speaking of that, I know that some of you have had questions. The answer is Yes: We *have* been in touch with officials at the Department of Defense, and they are being kept well informed. ::pause:: That's really all I can tell you now... but I will tell you that as long as the Department of Defense allows us to continue broadcasting, we will continue providing information on this critical situation to you.

Yeah.. That's what HE said. Wink

But, wouldn't such evidence be MUCH more beneficial to us in, I dunno, evacuating our cities or attempting to stop it from happening? The best purpose it could serve the future is as a historical record of the Armageddon.

That is, unless he believes that the future will be our salvation and send back a way to stop it from happening in their past.
