Sea Bed's Nectar...
I think we dropped this too quickly.

I don't know... going back over it - it seems like SBN has something to do with it. Looking at the scienceforums.net post, the "expansion of soft tissue" and "rapid cellular growth" seems like a tie-in. I know this was brought up a couple of posts ago, but I think it was brushed away too quickly. Methinks we're all in agreement that MGP has something to do with SBN, and if it is his food source (thus his incredible size, strength, etc) then the parasites would be receiving it as well. A logical explanation is that the parasites bite contains some of the properties of SBN, but not all of it (MGP has digested it, after all - as have the parasites). That explains why Marlena exploded, but didn't have incredible strength or feel "amazing". Thoughts?

I actually really like this idea... hyperconcentrated SBN venom? Works for me.

I always figured that the parasites were fleas that had been mutated by whatever made MGP big. Here me out on his one;

Fleas attack a wide variety of warm-blooded vertebrates including dogs, cats, humans, chickens, rabbits, squirrels, rats and mice. Fleas are a nuisance to their hosts, causing an itching sensation which in turn may result in the host attempting to remove the pest by biting, pecking, scratching etc the vicinity of the parasite. Fleas are not simply a source of annoyance, however. Some people and animals suffer allergic reactions to flea saliva resulting in rashes. Flea bites generally result in the formation of a slightly-raised swollen itching spot with a single puncture point at the center. The bites often appear in clusters or lines, and can remain itchy and inflamed for up to several weeks afterwards. Fleas can also lead to hair loss as a result of frequent scratching and biting by the animal, and can cause anemia in extreme cases.

And the results of Anemia either excessive blood loss (Marlena bleeds out of the eye), excessive blood cell destruction, (which causes the plasma in blood to leave the blood cells and enter the surrounding area ie: Marlena expanding), and deficient red blood cell production (which causes blood cells to replicate and grow rapidly)

Well, Sorry for the length, but i think my theory is pretty damn good.

I know this is really long, I'm sorry, but i think it could be one of the most logical theories as to why Marlena explodes.

Holy christ!

She popped like a freakin' zit! Watching it loop over and over in a GIF is alot more freaky than just quickly seeing it on screen...I mean, she swelled up a huge size, and BOOM...bloodsplosion.

Anyway, I've been on the "Parasite has DSN in its saliva" train for a while now. Seems like the most likely answer.

No, but we document every interview and cite sources when we claim something. That's what seperates spurious rumor from intelligent discourse.

how about this:

The parasite's bite contains a venom, or a hyper-super-concentrated DSN for a specific purpose. for instance, what if by biting a host it does implant an egg (bear with me here) which is, say, the size of your fist, okay? now what if this egg looks rather like a chunk of flesh, which you would expect to see at the site of a human going asplody, and after popping, this egg hatches after, say, an hour, 2 at most. this would account for the parasite that's being carried out of the triage center (because by now the attack hes been going on for a few hours), why the GCCPS (Giant Crotch Cricket Popping Syndrome) then? well, it creates a pile of ready-processed MGP brand Strained Human baby food.

what do you think? too out there?

Well technically MGP was not supposed to be friends with the Parasites either, you see him scratching them off throughout the whole movie...and their called PARASITES...Probably just some weirdo that came from the bottom of the ocean and just happened to be on him when he surfaced...

For some reason that made me think of old perverted guys roaming around parks.

A little further off topic... shouldn't we just refer to it as ATT rather than MGP at this point... I prefer Hud's "A Terrible Thing..."
