Because it is indeed a major concern ( Reality shows that Rambo is the top competitor for this weekend in terms of boxoffice against Cloverfield )

Honestly i highly doubt that a 4th movie in a series has any potential of beating the first ORIGINAL idea in cinemas in a long time

But if it does ill eat my hat...lol

Thanks for the theatre count. Looks like another advantage is the MPAA rating

PG for Cloverfield
R for Rambo

Cloverfield had the MASS hype behind it, and I still know a LOT of people who havent seen it.

Rambo... I havent heard about much. The action movie junkies will probably go, but I betcha Cloverfield will still pull out with the #1 spot in the box office this weekend. If not, Rambo will quickly loose its lead i bet.

Erm, Cloverfield is PG-13.

Chicks exploding usually negates a PG rating, yes.

Last I checked, Cloverfield is still on top of the box office, but Rambo is in 2nd.

hmm, 60 year old guy from the 80s beating up guerrillas in Vietnam or giant monster attacking New York filmed in an amazingly unique and exciting way.

sorry Stallone, but my money is on Cloverfield, which I may actually end up seeing for a third time.

Actually Rambo cannot die either, a million bullets fly at him but never hit. He has unlimited clips he'll do just fine against MGP.

If god did not exist it would be necessary to creat him -Voltaire

There is no reason to 'scrub this from existence. It is a valid discussion about the film and it's potential performance against Rambo. However, it is a discussion of it's press reception, so it does warrant moving to a suitable forum - which I will now do.

I was selling tickets tonight at work and Rambo didn't do very well but neither did Cloverfield.
Meet the Spartans almost sold out.

Cloverfield didn't do terrible, just not very many people wanted to come see it.
But I guess that just has to do with the fact that four new movies came out and location is a factor in this case.

The early numbers for Friday show:

Rambo: $6m
Clover: $4.5m

Even if that Cloverfield number holds up, it's still going to be a 65%-70% drop from last weekend.
There's no way it's going to get to $100m now...it'll be lucky to $80m at this point. Sad
