Nice, thanks for the move.

To start, I've created a thread, a 'gutter' if you will, for everyone to post whatever photos they've submitted to EniTech. I have a feeling we'd get a bunch of posts in these threads amongst the discussion, taking up space. So if you're going to post your photo - please post it in this thread, thanks!

Jacob's crime photo

I've been playing CSI with the crime photo and here is what I think happened: He has shot 2 times, first in the arm, then in the heart, and them he fell over the balcony and landed dead on the second floor ( breaking his skull).

Also there are two adresses in the foto one off the crime scene, one the crime scene location, another off the sheriffs office. Does anyone know that location? Can you go there? How about the sherriffs office did anyone try to contact it?

Regarding the photos they asked us to submit I will certanly take a few around town, once my exams are over, I have to find out if Portugal gets destroyed too. i'll have to take a few around the university, i would love to see a picture off it destroyed. Do we have any french ARGers out there who could submit a photo off the eiffel tower? that would look great too. The whitehouse, Big Ben, you get my idea.

A few corrections...

Regarding what I said about the cyphertext yesterday. It was really late and as I expected, there were errors. Thank God for train rides, for they force us to come up wth ways to entertain ourselves !

First mistake : there are 26 doublets after all. They are :
00 01 02 04 10 11 12 13 14 20 21 22 23 24 30 31 32 33 34 40 41 42 43 44 and 55.
Side note on the doublets : Am I the only one surprised, judging by the "pattern" there seems to be, that there's no 03, 50, 51, 52, 53 and 54 ?

Second mistake : I said that 55 and 00 were the only repeating doublets when there are actually 4 : 55, 00, 12 and 32.

That's about it for now, couldn't figure anything else out today. Anyone making more progress ?

I live in France and went to Paris to see friends today. I took the time to take a picture of the Opera House and Haussman street, two landmarks of the town. We'll see if Enitech can figure anything out of them.

Also : How about having people from all over the world to send pictures in ? Supposing the events that lead to the catastrophic state of the world haven't happened too long before the shots we've received, that might be a way to judge the advance of what is happening, know where it might be safe for the Resistance to stay at least for some time, and figure out where everything started ?

I have an inside source at Enitech. I can't divulge who it is, so don't ask. I can prove it if need be, but I am hesitant given the seriousness of events as of late.

My source tells me that there is indeed talk of infiltration. The images inserted into their videos without their knowledge has everyone shaken. Their IT staff went back to the content that was published, and those images are not present, meaning someone has compromised their security.

Jacob is very afraid, to the point that there is talk of him going into hiding. The stalker of Anna has yet to be identified, but it is not the first time she has been confronted.

I'll post more soon, but I hope this helps.

Please don't post in-game on the boards, whether you're a PM, gamejacker, or roleplayer. The guidelines for the forum are freely availiable for you to read - see the top left of the forum screen, for example.

Little harsh there, Rob. If Mr. Satan is genuine, it means Unfiction's members efforts have been recognised and we're being given in-game info directly, something of an honour in my book...

I'd disagree about the chest. The blood on his chest is more or less directly over his heart. When someone gets shot there, there's a HELL of a lot more blood. I suspect you're right about the shoulder and head though. Looks like he was shot in the back of the shoulder/upper arm (No blood on the front, no exit wound, meaning low calibre or maybe light loads. There's too much blood for it to be from the fall or a bullet graze). As the head is more or less intact, the impact from the fall is the most likely cause of the blood underneath it.

It's not harsh at all. Unfiction pretty much has one rule to rule them all: Nothing in-game happens here, and we have very good reasons for that being the case.

Folks who insist on posting as an in-game character face the swift bannination stick. So, I'd say the warning was anything but harsh. I mean, geez, he even said "please." Smile

lol! Fair enough. Just seemed a bit rude, that's all, but if there's good reason, there's good reason. Smile

Anyone in this forum been submitting any pictures of their towns? I saw that BryanFlurry and Thomas Bookmore both have from the Phillipines and Paris respectively. If you have, I do ask that you post it in this thread as previously posted by the bruce.

I really am curious to see if they ACTUALLY use user submitted photos or simply claim user submitted photos from ones they already planned. I am getting a good picture tomorrow of downtown St. Louis, MO where I am from. This includes The Arch. You will notice in the linked picture the shiny building sticking out from behind the left side... that's where I work so I am hoping they somehow use my picture so I can see what happens Smile

I will post my picture in the above thread when I send it in!

They are indeed using actual photos, which is pretty cool.

The forum does exist to follow what is occurring: the policy to avoid bringing in-game characterizations to the forums is to ensure a safe place to freely disseminate and analyse information exists. In the alternative, people hide information out of the need for secrecy, and the posts that are made have to be disseminated for accuracy (among a few other reasons).

Hopefully, the reminder of forum policy didn't come off as harsh or mean-spirited, and hope you stick around to follow along with the game with us!

Back on topic, the triangle in that RESIST picture looks really familiar -- does anybody remember the appearance of the computer chip from T2? It's been a while since I saw the movie, but wasn't the chip from the T-1000 triangular, hence Cyberdine's triangular logo?

well hopefully you could understand the suspicion having registered just within 2 days, and your first post containing unique information that supposedly no one else has.
We may come across pretty tough against PMs posting in the forums, so sometimes we very quickly jump over suspicious posts.

I guess it would help if you quoted the entire conversation between your contact and yourself. As a community, especially just within unfiction, we encourage sharing of information, rather than holding back. It encourages everyone to take part and have fun, and not feel like they're being kept from any secrets and whatnot. (also, because the forum is entirely OOG, posting secret info here is safe; a PM using info they find here is considered very bad form)

At this point you haven't given us much to go on, so technically what you've shared could be false, a hoax, a gamejack, or a puppetmaster... it could also be legit Smile so a bit of help here would be great!

And welcome to Unfiction!

edit: bah! notgordian got there first... =)

This triangle looks very familiar here too, but I don't think it's the T1000's : this one is literally liquid metal, and we don't see his chip. And not the T800's either : here's a replica of it, and it's just not the right shape.

Okay. I've been doing a LOT of work on these stupid numbies, and talking with Rob. I really like where bruce was going with his base5 to base10 to text idea. It makes sense. I liked the idea of a playfair cipher. It had possibilities, but obvious holes (the odds of having exactly 26 identical pairs for both messages doesn't sit well for a playfair, in my eyes).

But then it occured to me that, with two blocks of numerical 'text' and two remaining punch cards, they have to be linked. I mean, having these two new puzzles occur when we haven't even finished using the other part from the last puzzle seems... odd. Which got me to thinking, how in the world can we cross these? I thought about running a Vig on the text bruce came up with, using the lyrics again as a key. But, to no apparent avail. I think. You can feel free to try any of this, btw, since I did most of it at 3 in the AM and may have screwed it up. Anyways, a straight vig using the lyrics didn't seem to work.

Ah! Then I recalled how the original numbers were in pairs for both messages. But, the pairs made me think. In the playfair, one may use a key square that starts out with a key phrase followed by all but one of the rest of the alphabet, unless you combine i and j. I figured then that if we had some such key, rather than doing a playfair we could do a simple substitution from numbers to text (NtT, since I'm lazy). Alas, I tried phrases that made sense (Robot, Humanoid (from the articles on flickr) and Pinkfloyd came to mind, and using it like ROBTACDEFG etc or HUMANOIDBCEFG etc) and everything still came up jumbled. Also, it leaves the results of our frequency tests unsatisfied. Hmm.

Then I had my final and most desperate thought. What if, using one key we were able to get letters with a NtT substitution, and then us the lyrics for a Vig key? So, I immediately tried using the titles of the songs and parts of the titles as the keys for the NtT, and the lyrics for a Vig but alas, no luck. However, if this were the case it may solve our concern as to the frequency, since the Vig would mess with that.

In the end, this is the paranoid speculation of someone who took the time to write these two blocks of numbers into a the the nice, small blocks on graph paper, and who since has gotten little sleep and food. I realize this is a huge run-around, not to mention a more or less double (or triple) encryption depending on how you look at it, and thus very unlikely. However, I post in the hopes that you, fellow addicts, will find something I said useful and make headway. /rant
