[META] Popup anagram (demo?) also, the claim that the initial pop up is actually an anagram that announces the halo demo cd release is bogus. while it's true that the characters can be arranged that way, there are also so many possible combinations that it would take probably 10-15 years for a current computer to figure it out. it is purely coincidental.
[EDIT] Split from Hoax thread for further discussion. --AnthraX101

a computer, yes, but a human writing the game who knows what the message he/she is trying to get across can easily manipulate the known letters of the message into a cryptic message resembling loose programming. it's too much of a coinncidence not to be correct. in fact, it's illogical to think it's not correct. to quote something that is said often in this forum "if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck...."

we're talking about googols of possible combinations here, there are millions of millions of valid english sentences that can be made out of that, including onels that contain "HALO TWO HAS BEEN CANCELED, SUCKERS"
it is reading way too much in and is insanely unlikely that even if it were an anagram that we stumbled upon the intended one.

Another possible acronym (with many words still to spare):
HALO TWO WILL SUCK LIKE NOTHING ELSE - obviously Bungie hate themselves.

I like "DELUXE BULLS**T ERUDITION: METROID PRIME TWO COMES IN SEPT. SCREW ATTACK EVERYTHING. AND SAN ANDREAS ON FRIDAY, RIOTING WELL. COOL HUH?" better.
Seriously, as has been said there's more possible combinations than you can imagine. The only thing you're going to get out of this is what you want to see.

Not to mention, for the Eight Billionth time, the xbox uses DVD-9 discs not cd-roms.
I am trying to trout myself but it isn't working.

i know this is trout, but given an 100-letter combonation...you could make just about anything
HALO 2 IS CANCELLED: YOU ARE ALL HUGE SUCKERS

Pure genius. I'll bet you also think Tetris is really easy because you can put that first block anywhere.
Sure, you could rearrange some of the letters to say: "HALO 2 IS CANCELLED: YOU ARE ALL HUGE SUCKERS". Now what are you going to do with the rest of the letters?

The point is that there are so many combinations of words that you can make from those letters that it is most likely not an anagram. We could never find the true solution even if there was one because there are so many combinations/permutations that make other sentences!

Ah, the ol' multiple-forum-simultaneous-post trout. I should have recognized it.

Sure, but how many solutions have anything to do with Halo 2 and have every word make sense? Only one so far ...

Yes. Because, you know, if there's one thing UF is known for, it's how frequently threads get deleted. Nothing the mods here like better than deleting threads that offend their sensibilities, yessir.
Oh, and uh, the anagram thing is idiotic. (Just to keep on-topic.)

Personally, I prefer to keep threads that offend my chaste sensibilities because, well, they're funny. In a sad, kind of pathetic way. It brings joy to my existance to point, laugh and shake my head in disbelief. So I thank you, oh happy, argumentative, silly people, for once again causing me to snort beer out my nose. This Bud's for you.
And I agree. Its silly. Just to keep things on topic.

I haven't the slightest idea what your board is known for (aside from having a large collection of idiots). My comment was about how he decided to ask the mods to save him instead of debating the points I was making.
