An actual ARG would make complete sense if it perpetuated the entity that is the Cloverfield Monster. I cannot however see any sort of ARG now starting that would lead up to a sequel.

To answer the original OP Question: Yes....yes it is.

J. J. himself states that he has "enough of a backstory" to make a sequel. That backstory is what will drive this to whatever it becomes in the future.
