Tonight about 11somethingish pm, I get a call on the cell phone from "unknown"....

A guy with a strong accent said he was Eric Remington and he needed me to get word to John...

I'll spoiler this for now to give me time to catch up from page 5, and if it's not necessary I'll remove it in a bit, but here's the info...for ye who are concerned. Info being, I went to John's blog and posted this as a comment: EDIT: No spoiler needed, removed.

K here. Listen, just a short while ago I got a call from "unknown" - asking for me specifically. He had a strong accent and said he was Eric Remington and asked me to get this message to you as he was about to board a train and did not have much time. He said that he has left Tokyo and is in route to Osaka...and that he is okay.

And unfortunately - my fault - he also said something to the effect that it was really bad or that it wasn't what you all thought - but shortly after the call something came up and sort of took priority for a bit longer and it has faded what that specifically was. I really think it was that it's worse than we thought - along those lines. He asked me to get this message to you and then he rushed off to catch the train.

I hope this information reaches you and helps you in your search. If I can help further let me know.

K I caught up, read up on John's blog and posted the message there first, then posted it here - mostly because I hadn't been up to date on this one and didn't know if it'd be time sensitive or what, so posted first, updated second.

I saw the link to the ES. I came close to requesting info (sounded really cool!) but decided not to on grounds of I aint flying anywhere, let alone Japan but mostly, I just got this call from Eric (presumably, we will assume it was 'legit' IG)...and since he's distressed about the ES and whatever experiment he did, I'd feel like a traitor with him asking me to help him out.

But ES does sound cool - I can see why he'd want to check it out more. I'd probably do the same thing!

As for the accent, the reception itself was poor to medium and I had a hard time hearing him clearly, had to get him to clarify Tokyo and Osaka to be sure I heard it right. It was a heavy accent, and given the story going on, I could say it sounded more Russian than Asian, but it was pretty strong. For what it's worth, the voice sounded a little older than the photo of Eric, but not by much. He didn't sound goofy and illiterate, he was apologetic about calling at the late hour but said he needed the assistance and on with the message. Sounded more in a hurry than really "scared distressed" but there was a little bit of distress to it all.

As for the number...that would best be addressed under spoiler:

Because it'd be meta I imagine. I hadn't provided my cell # to anyone connected to the games, but I did post it in a meta thread, so the PMs would likely have gotten it there. It tossed me initially because he asked for Karensa and I went blank like "huh?" before it cleared up. I actually sort of thought it was someone calling about a geocaching event in the area...BUT


Eric had said that he got my cell# from the Con08 email information.

But a possible solution...
I think I know exactly what this about now, it was the flatworms that gave it away. Here's a link to the wikipedia article on the flatworm;

I believe the 'Enlightenment Society' is experimenting with biochemical memory experiments on humans, hence the increased learning power (imagine having the learning abilities of 2 or more people inside you), the 'voices' or side effects that come from taking to much is the result, I believe, of a kind of induced Schizophrenia. It would be logical to assume then in this case that the package of animals Eric received quoted in the diary entry here;

was flatworms. And I'm guessing that this guy is there 3rd mystery scientist;

It would be logical to assume that this ATheNA compound they refer to is the human equivalent of whatever it was in the flatworms that caused the memory transfer, or maybe a mix of flatworm and human genetic material.

I know the tests on the flatworms were never exclusively proven, but I am willing to guess that, at least in part, this is what is going on...

 		aaaahhhhHHHH DAMNIT! why am I so slow?!

So I actually had one of my friends go down to evans library for me. I sent him the picture and he found the actual book On the phone, the first thing he mentioned was "Wow, this thing is REALLY old..." and then he puored through the book. nothing fell out, but there was stuff written on the inside of the front cover in english and in pencil. he also inspected all of the books that we also pictured. there were things marked out on several pages, other notes written, etc. He took pictures of all of it. And now I feel like an ass since it was all for naught... ah well...

I was going to hop on here and post all of the findings I made today, but it looks like everything's been cataloged.

Damnit. Nothing quite like ARG Impotence...

 		Good find on the flatworms. I too gathered he got some sort of animal thing in the mail but I kept thinking 'eggs' more than flatworms. But yeah that would explain the head transplants!

And while Eric is claiming the con08 arg was just an arg, wasn't that still tying strongly to cryptozoology and a research project? If ya look at it, the stuff Eric was involved in very much resembles the con08 'game' arg, like he would've or might've been using elements from ES and the experiments for use in his con08 arg...and maybe there is more to the clues in that 'fake' arg that might open this up more.

Could the whole flatworms slash head transplants slash research indicate a new species that was created in these labs?

Good idea, certainly worth looking into more. Any records we might find on Rachel Silverman(?) might open this can of worms (bad pun alert!!) Rolling Eyes even further...

Maybe Eric was trying to tell us something...maybe he used the con08 arg to help expose the ES? Safety in numbers, sort of thing?

It sounds reasonable. I wonder in which connection stay ES and Junker Group (when it isn't a fiction within a "fiction").

 		Just noticed that moonfruit.com as well as hosting the enlightenment society website also hosted the original conspiracy website. Wendy Tan, the name drawn up in the original whois and the one I tried on the enlightenment society is actually the owner of moonfruit and a genuine oog person.

Glitch!!! Don't tease me like that, bro!! Catfight! Pleasepleaseplease post your findings - they're potential EVIDENCE, and while the flatworm research is fascinating and almost certainly relevant, it's still technically SPEC at this point. Your friend is the only one of us to have actually seen the book in person, and that's a big deal! So, I can't speak for anybody else, but I'm dying to see what y'all found. Surprised

Btw, the head transplant thing reminds me of an audio book I listened to once. It was about a secret group trying to resurrect the 3rd Reich and experimenting with head transplants... yup, they had Hitler's head frozen in a box. Shocked Laughing No flatworms, though.

Re: "Eric"'s accent, could it have been German? Remington sounds like it might be more of a German name than Russian, but I dunno.
