Cortana never betrayed John, he's remembering it incorrectly. John was helping 343GS and Cortana stopped him. Once John was informed of what 343 was actually going to have him do Cortana and John went to blow up the ring.

That is what I thought. I thought I was losing my memory. Very Happy

I figured I had it wrong. Confused

Of course, that doesn't rule out that Cortana could betray the human forces.

Is someone going to lock this thread?
It couldn't be any further off the track.

It's pretty clear that Melissa is not Cortana.
It also seems really unlikely that 343GS is the Pious Flea. 343GS had no problem with English, for instance, and Pious Flea sure seems to (if he is indeed the one behind the killer.jpg messages )

Agreed.

One thing that I'm becoming increasingly certain of is that, while Melissa, the Pious Flea, etc. are very likely from the Halo "universe," none of them are characters from Halo 1, and most, if not all, will not be characters in Halo 2, either. Like the Beast before it, the Haunted Apiary's cast comes from the world of the product it is "advertising," but does not directly relate to the plot of said product.

Dr. Halsley

You have to read "First Strike" before you speculate about what happens after Halo, because it is a great postlude to "The Flood", but Dr. Halsley does escape Reach because it's not completely glassed. Read up on the rest to find some more surprises...

It seems as though I should read this book.
