Speaking of picking apart anything for clues
TAG ship in harbor on 1-18-08?

First real post, so yo, everybody.

First of all, my theory is that the pictures on 1-18-08.com of the destroyed tanker and of the explosion viewed through nightvision are out of order chronologically. I believe that the NV picture is of the explosion that occurs at the start of MGP's attack, and the shot of the destroyed tanker is taken the morning after.

Second, is it possible this is not only the ship we get a (very) brief glimpse of in the movie, but also a tagruato ship? The section of the hull where the logo would be displayed is pixelated in the picture, but in the movie I was able, for a split second, to see what looked like the red circle of the tagruato logo on the front of the ship's hull. I might have just been confusing it with another burning patch, but it would be nice if Abrams tied the ARG in at least a little with the movie.

And yes, I realize how trout-worthy this is. But I'm way too impatient to just sit around twiddling my thumbs until Cloverfield 2.

I sat and picked them pictures all to crap and nothing really ties into anything as of currently. Even if the oil tanker was Tagruato it really don't figure to much, except that tagruato was in the movie.

It's been long established that this was a Tag tanker, I believe this was determined when it first appeared in a TV trailer.

There's a shite load of threads about it: See search results.

Thanks for pointing out one of the most useful things here, SEARCH.

But I think he's saying if one of the boats in 2 of the 1-18-08.com pictures is from Tagruato

Well, in that case, this would be a major trout, that has been discussed to death, but I did my search for this thread already. Smile

Yes, the tanker in the movie was a Tagruato ship. we've got threads with pictures.

As to the 1-18-01 pictures, the destroyed ship with the rescue operation is a cargo ship IIRC, not a tanker.

Also, the nightvision picture is a (crowded) military strike on a target at sea. The explosion seen in the beginning of the movie from Rob's roof occurs on land (pretty much on top of city hall) and therefore cannot be either the wrecked (but en-exploded) cargo ship in the first picture, or the target of the attack in the nightvision picture. (or the flaming, but also unexploded, tanker seen in the film, but I digress)

And if those two pictures were out of order, the wrecked ship in the first picture would be a flaming bit of floating debris. There is no evidence on the wreck of vulcan cannon or missle strikes, both of which contribute to the obscured fireball in the nightvision picture. The only damage to the cargo ship in the daylight pic is crushing/claws.

The pictures are in order, as MGP made his way toward NY, and yes, obviously, the military knew whatever it was was coming.
