I can indeed confirm this. My brother said he saw this as well. Unfortunately, I was not there.

Okay, I just saw the commercial, and it does indeed show the monster.

I can confirm, they must be desperate to get more asses in seats to see it. Luckily I saw the premier, unfortunately I can't say the same for my mother.

Very disappointed (not in the monster, but them choosing to show it) Sad

I caught it out of the corner of my eye last night on CBS. Luckily I was more involved in my Chicken Katsu than the show on TV.

What's the big deal? Do you want people to see this movie? I sure do.

Who cares if they've seen the monster, it looks fucking wicked and should get them to go see the movie.

Because the whole point, that they've stated, for not showing us anything until we see the movie was to keep up suspense. Now that they've shown the monster on TV that is all gone. It's also a big fucking let down for those of us who haven't been able to see the movie yet, and have spent the last two weeks trying to avoid spoilers at all costs. That's the big deal.

Showing it on TV shows that they (JJ, Mat, and Drew) compromised to Paramount or that they were lying the six months before the movie came out and didn't give a shit about suspense or a "throw back" feeling in seeing a movie you knew little about. Of course, I guess it's possible that Paramount is just trampling over them to market the movie how they see fit now.

(And no I could honestly give a shit if people go see it. I want to see it, but I also don't want to be in a theater full of people who've already seen, and are bringing friends who haven't, that will ruin every scene right before it happens) The movie turned a profit while still in theaters, that's very rare these days. We don't have to worry about how many people see it now.

agreed. building suspense to make profit only works if you relieve it AFTER people pay for tickets.

Fact of the matter is simple: sales after the opening weekend ....well sucked.

It's the best way to draw in people who have hesitated to see it....that one brief glimpse hopefully will push them into going.

All about marketing(traditional) now.

That brief glimpse ruined the movie a little bit for me. I saw it the Friday after I saw the commercial, which was actually coincidence, I planned on seeing it Friday anyway.

Either way it's disappointing, to me, and I still feel that the Cloverfield team compromised or is being trampled by Paramount.
