911. 9+1+1= 11. 1-1. Add 1 and 1 and you get 2. 1/18/8. 1+8=9. 18/9=2.

Coincidence? Who had the most to gain from 911? Abrams! Who was nowhere to be seen at the scene of the crime? Abrams! And last but not least, probably the most damning evidence of all:

At first I thought it was nothing, but after zooming in:

You almost got away with it, you sneaky buthole.

OK, i did something rare and did not read the eintire thread before i posted but i couldnt handle more than seven pages.

I laugh(not a strong belly laugh when something is genuinly funny, nor a crying laugh when i go overboard, more of a throat laugh, chuckle if you will) at this thread. Not at the OP or the people posting here, but more at the content.

We started here Six months ago. We "found" about 5 websites. Slusho, 1-18-08 and jaimeandteddy were given to us, while we did have to dig a little for tido and (oh god im gonna butcher this) Taragato. We needed one password which was nearly as simplistic as paramount, and not much else. Nothing came from the hours of work and concentration so many of us put into the slusho site, breaking everything down.

I say this because many of you will never learn that there is no clue in the movie. The splashdown was given to us in an interview. We had to do next to no work, and that is the underlining theme. There will be no clue in the movie.

If you guys find looking for "bloopers and mess ups fun, than continue what youre doing, but be warned, we wont learn much, if anything.

I actually somewhat agree... I've seen the movie 5 times now and the only things I ever suspect as being clues are words that I see hidden in the credits, partially obscured.

I think we need to collectively focus on one thing... : 10 September, 1969
It had to have been included for some reason.

Though today I did notice the patch on the army guy who helps Rob, Lily and Hud (after the whole...Marlena thing). I dunno, it would be difficult to pick up a lead based on that.

I really am thinking that we aren't going to get anything new for...a while. Unfortunately. I refuse to believe it's over, but that might just be wishful thinking on my part because I didn't pick up on this whole...ARG/ARE thing until I'd seen the movie. Though people have said they've gone months without anything, so I guess this could be another dry spell.

I thought this was interesting...then again MGP doesn't even look like an aquatic animal but it plays into the whole something mutated from the water theme..

I missed that. What was his patch? Was it like the NASA one on the folder being passed around in the makeshift medical facility?

Somewhat irrelevant, here, just something I noticed after seeing the movie again today...

The movie starts and ends at 6:42 AM (Cloverfield time).

Beginning of the movie: Rob - "Beth's dad's place...6:42 AM...and it's already a good day."
End of the movie: Rob - "It's Saturday, May 23rd, the time is...[checks watch] 6:42 AM, approximately seven hours ago someTHING attacked Manhattan. If you're watching this you know more about it than I do." etc.etc.

I just thought it was kinda neat.

Well, considering guerra001 didn't flame the person who wrote the above statement, but instead pointed out it's relevance... I feel okay posting this without reading through the entire 10 pages.

But anyways, has anyone pointed out that May 23rd is on a Friday this year? May 23rd will fall on a Saturday next year, 2009. The last May 23rd that took place on a Saturday was in 1998. There was SUPPOSED to be a Saturday, May 23 in 2004 but since it was a leap year May 23rd took place on a Sunday.

It always made me kind of mad that they changed the date around. We were led to believe the ARG was taking place in REAL TIME and that the attack would take place on January 18th of this year, going by the dates on the pictures from 1-18-08.com and the MySpace profiles... It really brought on this impending sense of doom, that January 18th meant something. But anyways, when I saw the movie and saw it took place in May, I just figured it was May of THIS year. I thought maybe on the day the attack supposedly took place in May (four or so months away) we would get some news about a supposed sequel... But, unless they made a mistake, looks like I'll have to wait on my theory until next year. I don't believe this whole thing just ENDED with the release of this movie, I have faith in JJ and his team.

Anyways. As obvious as it may seem, I tried both 5-23-08.com and 5-23-09.com to no avail, so I am pretty much out of ideas, for now.

P.S. - Anyone else slightly ticked that there are already full facial shots of the monster being put into the preview spots on TV now? I had a little bit higher hopes of them retaining the mystery. Oh well, maybe any mindless masses that weren't drawn in by the story might see the monster and want to check it out.

Only thing I found but it's listed as taking place on Sept 10, 1969.. Would give some explanation as to where the monster came from?

P.S. I am referencing the 2nd item listed on that site for September 10.

What i dont understand is all this pissing and whining about this date thing. Does it really make any difference towards the movie? No. You cant say you were lead to believe the attack happened on that date. You saw that date over and over and ASSUMED it was the date of the attack. As has been pointed out in threads here for months. The dates could be the dates the pics were printed. While i will give then that its a conundrum how one of them would be signed if that were the case. But i digress. My point was i really could care less when the date was. It was still a bad ass movie, My only beef whatsoever with it was that it was too short

I dont know, look at the first one. NY beats Montreal. thats it, To get even Canada created MGP to get revenge. Maybe MGP really stands for Montreal Grumpy Pants. Now we dont have to call him MR. anymore., we know his first name

EDIT sorry for the double post, its cause i quoted after i had posted

Fairly certain MGP is an acronym created by the unfiction boards here.

Not saying it IS from that nuclear testing, just saying that it seems to be the only thing of significance I could find on that day.

Well, being a fan of Lost, I've been taught that the sequence of events and following the timeline is a VERY important part of JJ n' Crew's storytelling style. So when I come to find out that the original date of the attack means absolutely NOTHING, then yeah, I get a little ticked. Just seems a little sloppy is all...

Not really sure my post consisted of "pissing and whining", but if so I didn't mean it to come off that way. I personally LOVED the movie and can only hope that this isn't the end of the whole Cloverfield experience.

Skipping ten pages and just commenting on 6-4-2. There's 6 robots for the slusho! flavor game. We might be missing something.

well only two things poped up for 9/10/69 in google

one is a game played with the braves and the giants with the braves winning

the other you have the U.S. perform a nuclear test at Grand Valley Colorado but since it was the cold war im sure that the US and USSR were testing nuclear bombs like if they were fireworks so for me its a dead end

We seem to be focusing a lot on 6:42 here... but what if it's really just a "hint" at what we ACTUALLY need to be focusing on? For instance, the scene under the bridge with Rob and Beth... Rob says something along the lines of "It's 6:42 and approximately 7 hours ago...." Maybe focusing on 11:42 instead of 6:42 will get us somewhere else? 23:42 even?

Just tossing some ideas I was thinking about this evening while showering. It's not like I have classes I need to be thinking about or anything... Rolling Eyes

ur right cuz its 7 hours ago, but i dont se whee that idea would go, we need to do some research, but i also personally think that this "game" can be ovr soon cuz we kep discussing old stuff and there is no new stuff at all that might spark us up and get us all excited to "ALL" do research. we NEED SOMETHING, ANYTHING AT ALL.

Hey guys, Cloverfield Clues points out that there is a weird sign with two smiley-type faces right above the subway entrance in the scene where the group runs away from the fight between MGP and the military (the first upclose scene of that where Hud is cut off from the group for a second).

I wonder what they are all about?
