[META] Jumping to conclusions? If you want something to work out one way, it doesn't mean it will.
People are so intent on this being connected to Halo 2 in more than a tiny tiny way that they're missing the damn forest.
Just my thinking on it, but you have to leave your mind open to anything being possible. But without more evidence than the trailer (Which could have been done because of the amount of people that would see it there: Think commercial) there's no real reason to assume a HALO link.

Aside from the following references:
ONI: Office of Naval Intelligence in the Halo world.
Seraph: Covenant fighter.

Two other links indeed. However since when did Angels carry pulse lasers?

Since the quickening. When the robots rose from the grave and destroyed the grapefruit overlords.
That theory there is just about as valid as the random "We can bend the facts that we're given to make it fit with the HALO storyline"

I'm sorry, but the fact that the ARG is based on or around the Halo story line is pretty much a given IMO. If it leads to anything coem the 24th of august is another matter entirely.

PROVE IT!
Can you?
Are you making assumptions?
If so, you're not using your evidence properly.

Exactly! No, I can't! At the moment a lot of the story ties in nicely with the Halo story/universe. It fits, but it isn't proving it. However it's also the theory that fits best. TBH I've not even heard of anyother theory. Do you have one?

It can also fit to ANY universe where an AI exists.
And a navy.
That's IT !

A universe that uses the same terminology of Halo? One that has the same fighter craft, with the same weapons? And the same "glassing" of planets?
And why does it have to have a navy? We're assuming that the ONI at ILB is the same ONI in Halo, not proven.
So can you fit this into say, one of Issac Asimovs "worlds"?

But that would mean that HALO is real life! they use bullets and grenades!
THE WEAPONS ARE THE SAME!
That "Puma" is basicly just a Jeep or a Hummer. That makes HALO = THE REAL UNIVERSE!
Heat + Sand = Glass
A few of Dale Brown's stories mention that when they use nuclear weapons.
Why is it so important that this be HALO related?
Until I get an in-game refrence to something specific in the HALO universe.. like "Ring world" or "halo".. I have a hard time believeing that they would make it that easy.

I suggest that we apply occam's chainsaw.
http://skepdic.com/occam.html
Seriously though, you're forgetting the sevens connection, as well as my Dante's Inferno connection (seventh layer, hot sand, minotaur) http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4769&highlight=
And then there's this, from the phase two memories of Melissa, the Operator:
"drift off from station, Reach burning in the darkness like a lantern of hope, dockyard after dockyard buzzing with worker /// drones, someone crawling over the back doing detail work on the hull, the warm touch of a welding torch like little licks from a cat's tongue and"
Reach was destroyed in the Marathon Universe before Halo 1 begins, as chronicled by the novel "The Fall of Reach."
I appreciate that you're trying to challenge everyone to think carefully, but your tone is sardonic, and I'm sure some people are finding it to be unwelcome.

Erm, which point from above posts are you refering too?

What weapon is the same as what? Teh only mentioned weapon at the moment is the pulse laser.
[quoteThat "Puma" is basicly just a Jeep or a Hummer. That makes HALO = THE REAL UNIVERSE![/quote]Erm.. AFAIK the "puma" (Or Warthog as is it's name in Halo) hasn't been mentioned anywhere on ILB at all.

Yes, but without using Halo, what does glassing mean?

It isn't! It's just pointing in that general direction!

So if it said "ringworld" or "Halo" you'd then believe it would be about Halo 2? Could it not be about the Ringworld books instead?
Almost nothing is unique in a "story" anymore. If however you get multiple references that fit in with the same world (And also individually link into other worlds) then I'd be tempted to following the pattern of best fit, and like it or not, the current pattern of best fit is Halo.

So there has been only one place called Reach.. forever?
You want to apply the Razor?
Well, the evidence we have points to an AI being loose on the internet.
THAT'S IT!
So why twist all the facts that you have to apply to HALO?
What about the 7s? Bungie does not only mean HALO.

Ok, you're a troll, I get it.
For the record, if you come up with any places named Reach, I'd like to know.
