No, it's Magnificently Great Pie. You get to keep the anagram.
Correction, Acronym, not Anagram.
An anagram: Ace Riflemen Piggy Tint
Hmmm....

Well...Apparently we're not the only ones who think this thing looks like Senor Grumpy Pantalones. And this monster has a kind of weird origin, although, if it was the Cloverfield monsters origin, I would kill JJ.

This may not be as far fetched as it appers. "The big green lizard that shall not be named" was created over fears of the atomic age maybe MGP is a symbol for environental fears. The airbender monster is an angry forest spirit combine that with princess monoke and we might just have a possible inspiration for MGP. (can someone post a link to Princess Mononke for me I can't copy and paste on an iPhone )

Yep thats him. He was the spirt of the earth that attacked a town that was polluting the earth and making him sick. And nearly bit Gilian Anderson's Character in half if I remember correctly haven't seen it in a while
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
(Hud Referance anyone?)
He doesn't look like MGP but maybe the idea of the earth rising up and taking out Tagurato is not a bad one IF there is a link to the Avatar stuff - and I don't mean direct link more like JJ saying that was a cool looking monster lets do that kinda link. I personally don't go for the MGP = Enviroment thing but for the sake of checking all angles and since the Princess Mononke thing had not been brought up I thought I would toss it out there. Not to mention I love Miyazaki's work
And since I am at home now a link to the wiki on the movie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_Mononoke
And sorta off topic but kinda related - Hayao Miyazaki Rocks!! check out "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" some day excellent film and my favorite since it is the first of Miyazaki's that I saw when I was a kid.

hehe dont flame me but i think when its staring down at hud it looks like a cross between the avatar pic and the rancor from star wars. when its mouth is closed, it looks kinda similar to the rancor.

just slim down the face a bit and add some lungs on the side of its head and make it green and it looks a bit like mgp.

Actually, I decided to call it "Tadpole."
it's a duel meaning thing:
T he A merican D aikaiju
T.A.D.
For those who don't know what 'Daikaiju' means, it's Japanese for "Giant Monster."
and the reason for calling it 'tadpole' simply because the production notes states that it's a 'newborn.'
Ha! Tad sounds like a 40-year-old, pop-collared douche that cruises malls for jailbait. Tad is the kind of guy who your sister always seemed to date when you were younger. He flashes his giant teeth when he fake smiles and ruffles your hair.
Tad is the guy who called you "sport." He liked to squeeze your sister's butt when your parents turned their backs.

why does it matter what someone calls the monster? honestly? we all get the point either way.
that's what I've been saying... I mean, call it what you want I suppose... Granted, I'll never agree that MGP should be the official name simply because of my own opinion that it dumbs our monster down a bit. But then again, so does Clover, Tadpole, and Darwin. If anything the most official-unofficial name is 'Clover' simply because that's the name that the creators gave it. If there isn't going to be an official name for it, then more than likely it will take on the same persona as the Shark from the movie JAWS did;
People either know that shark as "JAWS" or by the name the creators gave it "Bruce."
Actually I prefer to call the shark the S.O.B. because of that famous line.
