[TROUT][THEORY] Tanker used to house MGP here's why I've been looking over tagruato.jp all day. Reading the posts there and i've come up with a tanker theory that has nothing to do with what is in every other thread about the tanker here so hear me out....
The tanker is to house MGP.
Seriously. This is why i feel this way.
1: Tagruato.jp post about using double hulls on all its ships. Extra protection to keep things out or things in?
http://tagruato.jp/investors.php?story=news_07_07_02
The date is early enough to put double hulls on its ships in time for when Chuai got attacked.
2: Baby MGP was taken from mommy and put inside tanker and shipped off. Mommy gets pissed and destroys oil rig. Mommy gets it from the military (1-18-08.com pic) while en route to baby MGP and is possibly dead or passed out. Baby breaks out.. yadda yadda yadda
3: Throw back to past monster movies. King Kong.. They went to capture the beast. Jurassic Park 2: T-Rex in LA (wasn't it LA? big city whatever). People would rather catch a beast and make money off of it than kill it for the greater good.
4: Thats why Ganu was in NY. To see his latest pet.
Far Fetched?
Edit: I'm now almost convinced this is what happened. The pictures on 1-18-08.com that were coming to us at the end go along with it. tanker goes down (angry mommy), military battle, (mommy being attacked), Guy in boat in blood (mommy hurt badly, very badly), dead half eaten whales (mommy is eating to regain power and go back after baby MGP)

[BTW] that plot has already been taken

T-Rex was in san diego.
I highly doubt ganu would go to NY when he had to have known it was extremely dangerous. Otherwise they would have taken it to Japan right?

Or maybe he was selling it to someone, or they were gonna move it across the united states by train? If you just had someone capture King Kong for you, wouldn't you want to see it ASAP?
Good call on the Gorgo xboyonfirex
And if this gets trouted, i could care less. It beats 80% of the posts that have been posted in the past week.

Poppins theory could mix with my own.

if they created it, it would make sense that they would try to transport it.

But isn't MGP too big to be transported in a tanker? I'm pretty sure he's listed as anywhere from 25-35 stories tall, depending on which convience store he's crushing - which would be waaaaaay too large for a tanker. I see where you're going, and I agree that the double hulls must be for SOMETHING important in the ARG, but I just don't know if they could fit him in there.

I think double hulls are now required by some countries, or at least becoming common, for any tankers that carry environmentally harmful liquids such as oil.

This is a very old theory, but I was on board for that when it first came out.
Jahre Viking, formally known as the Seawise Giant, is 1504 feet long and 226 feet wide. These vessels are so large that crew members often use bicycles to travel from one point to another on the ship.

This might not be too far off, though.
In the manga, it seems to be implied that they're hauling MGP using a tanker. Granted he isn't actually in the boat, just bound with chains. Being towed, I guess.

*Yawn*. Ok And just how did "they"? (who are they?) get this giant in the tanker? Just opened the door and walked him in on a leash perhaps? He was very co-operative and nobody saw him .. he didnt want to attack the tanker,or the dock, or the loading personnel.. he just squeezed himself in there and kept silent until somehow, (maybe he looked out the porthole) he knew he was at the SOL and it was time to freak out!.. And just why would they be secretly shipping a monster to NYC in the first place? Disco contest? karioke night? Baaahhh!

maybe not so far off Hey all, second post woohoo.
I posted a 'very' similar scenario on another forum.
<cutNpaste>
OK... Tagruato's SBN is actually momma Clovers vital fluids (but they don't know at first). Satellite crashes somewhere in Atlantic Ocean (Tagruato not sure of exact location) so they start a wide sonar sweep and lo and behold they find out exactly what they are harvesting and they find that momma has a baby. Tagruato captures baby (somehow) and momma with her last strength goes ape shit tears down the drilling rig and goes after baby (trapped in the tanker) but since she is soooo huge the only way she can be mobile and her weight supported is in water, so when she gets to the shallows of the harbor she crashes in to the sea floor (causing earthquake) and with her last dying strength reaches out and rips open the tanker (remember baby's really long arms) freeing baby Clover who then wanders the city in fear and sadness.
<cutNpaste>
I think that these scenarios (mine and the OPs) answer (in a semi-logical manner) a lot of the questions about stuff in the movie, some of the viral marketing and statements made by Abrams and Reeves. One of the big questions (at least for me) that it answers is why Clover ended up in NY, I just couldn't reason out why a creature would make a long journey from it's natural environment to just go wandering through a city.

Tanker could have been modified for the transport, also another theory I've read is that SBN is primordial soup, baby and momma could have been in a hibernative state (remember Jamie crashed out on the couch) baby carefully removed, momma senses baby missing, and starts her little underwater rampage.
Clover was brought to NY for study, for display, for sale… Who knows why, but the fact is that a creature has left (or been removed) from its natural environment. Why???
What is 'your' answer for why Clover came to NY???
